I'm thinking most of those 996 Turbo times are with ECU tuning on stock k16s (that is, those cars were not completely stock).

I tend to agree but cant be 100% certain.

A list by trap speed:

11.88 @ 126.3 - Ruffinit / AWD (stock K16's)
11.65 @ 126.0 - Divexxtreme / AWD (stock K16's)
11.73 @ 124.6 - Heavychevy / AWD
11.59 @ 124.4 - Jimmer / AWD (stock K16's)
11.64 @ 124.2 - Hartmann / AWD (stock K16's)
11.64 @ 124.1 - TXGold / RWD (stock K16's)
11.44 @ 124.0 - Autoaddictions / AWD (stock K16's)
11.77 @ 122.0 - Jesus / AWD (stock K16's)

Even if 25% are 100% stock it supports my belief.

When you get into modded cars it becomes an apples to oranges comparison.

I don't think it's even 25%. I think 100% of those cars were modded in one way or the other.

Again, I wonder why ET makes any difference to owners of either car.

Just something wrong here with Jesus being mid pack

I would expect Jesus to be on the pole...in a Smart Car

This goes back a few years, and forgive me for a bit of magazine racing, but it came to mind regarding the Porsche 911 Turbo

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...mparison-tests

The article includes a 997 (not 996) Porsche 911 Turbo, and they were neck and neck in the 1/4 mile in this review with the higher trap speed going to the Z06.

The 997 Porsche Turbo had even more power than the 996 Porsche 911 Turbo S (450 bhp).

At any rate, I always loved corvettes, but that article really put the Z06 into my "must have" dream column even it came in 3rd overall.

It's too bad that you can't drive either one of them they way they were meant to be legally w/o being on some kind of track!!!

That was the first article that made me consider the Z06. With all due respect to the 911 turbo and F430, the Z unleashed a can whoop a$$ up to 150 MPH and on the skidpad. Still shocking all these years later.

stock for stock, not even a stock 997 turbo (07+) can beat a Z06 in any category. Now, the new PDKs are only going to be faster on the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile...but that is it. They are very heavy in comparison to the Z06...that is a plain jane fact.

Now...mod a turbo and things can get ugly...however, the Z06 can also be modded and then it just would get uglier...
