A coworker of mine has a 2009 GTR which I believe has "only" 480 HP and it is still a bullet off the line. Faster than my ZR1, at least with me behind the wheel at least until 60. The car generates tremendous traction and shifts quickly.

Very few GTR's are stock that's the thing. I give the edge to the ZR-1 in a perfect environment and it should be a walking from a roll. On the street from a dig I give a ZR-1 almost no chance at all unless you are great driver really great!

It's hard to find a stock GTR unless it's at a dealer..........lol.

Just go look at One Lap results since the GTR's inception it has dominated the top 3 spots every year, how many GTR's are running 8's@165+, how many are over 220mph in the standing mile?

The platform is a performance dream for those with $$$ and the desire to modify!

I love ZR-1's but 1/4 I'm going to have to give this one to GTR. You can be a good driver and you can have my mom or your grandmother hop in a GTR and beat you in the 1/4. almost no driver error.

Mile long I would say ZR-1

I for one did not think much about these cars until I went to the dealer and test drove one for my self and all I can say is WOW off the line its an odd feeling and this thing takes off and the transmission feel great. If I had the money I would definitely have one in my stable but if I could only choose one it would have to be the ZR-1.

Given the traction advantage I see the GTR taking the quarter but I would foresee not very long after the 1/4 mile mark, the ZR1 passes it. I would say anything beyond the 1/4 mark is the ZR's game. Seeing a lot of comments that it would take a mile worth of all out racing to finally put the GTR away. If true....that makes the GTR pretty damned impressive.

Location: Pocono International Raceway
Me: 2010 ZR1, bone stock with 3 year old dried out, nearly corded, way too many heat cycled Hoosier R6. My fresh tires ran 170 on the front and back straights before the tunnel turn 2 years ago, I could only get about 160 this time.
Other red group experienced driver: GTR with slicks, highly boosted motor (back of the car looked like my fireplace chimney).

Ran pretty even. Couldn't pull on the straight, fairly even in the turns.

After the session GTR driver was "convinced" I had to have pulleys.

Draw your own conclusion.

I would never trade a zr1 over a GTR. Or pick a zr1 over a GTR. I just test drove another 2013 GTR the other day and it still sounds like the engine is going to die when it turns on and when you rev it. The exhaust actually now sounds like ***. I don't know what they changed but it sounds like water gurgling in your mouth. Yes it gives good traction but between it and my gt500 I honestly couldn't tell a difference in the seat of my pants.

Idk I'm kinda over the GTR. If I ever got one now immediately I would put an akrapovic exhaust and send it to california to SP engineering to fix the engine issues and bring the HP to 650.

A month after I got my '09, I ran the 1/2 mile @ Shafter Airport in Bakersfield in March. Even with my clumbsy granny shifting I beat the Stock GTR's (2 2013's) from a 40 MPH roll (4 outa 5 times, I blew 1 2-3 shift, whoops):

I have since put about 2k miles on driving a 6spd & just installed the MGW - looking forward to running again in the fall with a lil more experience.

(ps, also beat this f458, but hit the limiter in 4th, and he wouldn't run me again, I wanted to get a cleaner run in, oh well,- gf is on bluetooth, Pop is on vid
)

I had the same dilemma. The GTRs have endless aftermarket capabilities but they are ugly, and clunky looking, too big. Plus I see far fewer ZR1s than GTRs, so they are a but more exclusive (total zr1s around 4500, total ZR1s around 7000+).

Stock for stock.

Also I believe the GTRs warranties are voided if "tracked."

parts cost is what made me go "wow" you can buy a nice c5 z06 for what just the transmission will run you if you pop one

the GTR is really targeted toward people making over 200k a year, trust fund babies or the wealthy

the couple people i've ran into that own them could be driving ferraris or high end porsche cars. they just have the GTR because they like it

as for rarity. audi R8 is another street machine that you hardly ever see

My little brother has a 2013 GTR and currently holds the 100% stock 1/4 mile record, he went 10.79 @ 126

He has since modded it and has went 10.39 @ 130

The car has alot more left in it, im sure it will go bottom 10's possibly even a high 9.

The GTR's are fast as hell but do nothing for me looks wise.

From a stop light on the street there is not a car around that can touch it!

Although I would chose the ZR1 myself any day of the week!

The only mass produced car that will beat a gtr 2012 and 2013 on the street is the porsche turbo s pdk.

On the street the gtr would get killed. Most street races are from rolling starts. That being said its all about who is lighter and has more hp/torque. Therefore, zr1 will win so long as it is a fair race.

Blazekillerace you coulbnt be more wrong, and do yourself a favor if you dont know dont talk!zr1 will never get traction in the first two gears and the gtr will be long gone.2012 and 2013 gtrs run flat eleven or better every single run!The zr1 needs to be in third gear to hook up properly on the street. It wont even be close.Horsepower and torque are useless without traction.Even my z06 has tractionissues on the street from the lower gears.Remember the track and drag radials is a completely different set of rules.

From a roll race it wouldnt lose traction kid. Go play your need for speed game. Lol honestly, thats why the zr1 runs .10 faster in the 1/4 mile. Kid just turn your computer off. You know nothing about traction. And if you read correctly I said ROLL race not from a dig moron. The gtr is a joke. I'd much rather have a good ol' toyota supra over that overweight fat ***. So do yourself a favor and just delete your account. An if you didnt know the zr1 is all about the driver, but you base your facts off youtube and video games lol **** out of heree child.
