Nav system can't read disk
My '07 factory nav system is having trouble reading the nav disk. I've cleaned the disk, changed the disk to my original one, cleaned the head unit and nothing works except when the car goes over a bump sometimes. I thought I once saw that there was a technical service bulletin for this, but I can't locate it. Anyone?

Only recommendation I have is to spend ~$100 on a Garmin 40LM(free lifetime map updates, four times a year). I wouldn't waste a penny messing with the factory NAV(and paying $200 for a new disc each year.......no way).

I swear I saw something about a technical service bulletin that had a bcm reflash for this condition. I was hoping someone would have a link so I could take it into the dealer.

I have a similar problem, I'm using an Aussie disc which the system reads and recognizes where the car is, but I can't enter a region or a destination address. Any tech gurus have any idea why??

I'm sorry you are having this issue. Have you gone to see your dealer about your nav disk issue?

I wanted to identify the Technical Service Bulletins first so I could take the reference #s to them. I did locate the following:
06-08-44-012E APR 10 Nav system- software/dvd update program
09-08-44-019-Sep 09 Nav Radio-screen blank/radio inop.
08-08-44-023 June 08 Nav radio- adaptation after radio/battery r&r
Hoping one of them is the answer. Any insights with the bulletins?

I have taken my car in to have the dealer look at it...., but because it was out of warranty it was going to cost more money than it was worth to me to have them look at it.. It would be great if we could find an easy remedy to this issue..

Lawdogg,
I apologize I am not a technician. My best suggestion would be to call your dealership. The TSBs are all available to the technicians at the dealership and it is up to their discretion to use them.

We had this happen to our Escalade after leaving it outside one night. Very cold out. No read for a day or so, then suddenly back in service.
I'll bet it was moisture on something from the difference in temp causing some condensation on the laser or other component.
Just a guess.
At some point a good tire airhose might clean up anything in the way, but it might also damage the NAV causing it not to work.

Do you know any other owners with a disk? If they would let you put theirs in yours and it works you could narrow it down to the disk. They should also try your disk in theirs. Perhaps its just the disk.
