Who cares, the new wheels look AWESOME. I wish I could afford those three piece wheels but sadly I had to save a few $$$ and just ordered the Monoblocks in the SL version.

Oh, and yes, that hood is the Halltech GT2 Dred.

Nope I think you misread. His HRE's were Monoblocks and weighed more than the ADV1 3 piece. To the OP the wheels look great and a good alternative to switching wheels. I'm gonna experiment with it myself after seeing your pics. Thanks for sharing.

^^^^ You are correct. The heaviest wheel from ADV was 66lbs, and my HRE was 77lbs for the rear. Was surprised to see that myself. The HRE weight was after 30k miles on my INVO's where the ADV was with new tires (more weight) which was amazing.

I stand corrected.

I love those track spec wheels and now seeing that they are lighter than I thought I am really impressed. Now I am even more excited to get my 10.1 monoblocks that are the Super Light version!

I was sold on the plasti-dip stuff when I saw people painting their entire cars with this stuff. My only concern is how well they hold up to car washes. Rubbing the edges usually gets the plasti-dip to come off pretty easily....so let us know how the car washes affect them.

For those interested, here is a whole car being wrapped....you can pick up some good pointers in the video. Especially on how to get some really good edges. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNY9Dx617N8

I think they look great.
I might use that Plasti Dip on a set of wheels in the near future.

It's a pretty good value, roughly $5.98 per spray can at The Home Depot.
It's also available in an open top type can for dipping tool handles and other small household items into (I think that's how it all originally started actually).
There are entire You Tube videos dedicated to it, some with great ideas/showing how to apply it properly and such.

That's what I want to know for sure as well, I have a set of chrome wheels that I'm considering making 'temporarily' black/dark grey. As far as I know it will definitely work and without ruining the chrome too.

Just powder coat your wheels and do it right, it's not that much money...

Define how this is not right, if you would?

"Not much money" is $5.99 a can, at four cans. Twenty bucks is a far cry from the ~2500% increase from that a permanent, non-returnable professional powder coat job would cost. Factor in the cost of removing the powder coat and returning them to their original finish should you decide you've tired of the look as well.
