2 piece rotors are not that expensive

I'm staying with OEM wheels...they are light enough....to expensive for anything lighter.

2 pieces rotor are kinda expensive, i bought some HRE p40sc those are damn lightweight

you are right on unsprung weight its the best bang when it comes to losing weight, wheels tires, rotors and suspension will be more than enough for 99percents of people

Z06 BOB,
I agree. I have 540 at the flywheel and 2985 pounds total weight. Everything the Z does well, mine does better. It even gets a consistent 3/4 MPG better in town than stock. Two favorite mods? Michelin PS-2 Cups and Brembo brakes. This thing also stops so hard it is borderline painful.

For acceleration it's hard to beat unsprung weight; lighter tires, wheels & rotors & for overall handling I want to drop another 100lbs.

I heard they added 100lbs of sound deadening to the C6. Has anyone removed their sound deadening??

100 lbs of sound deadning???? From sound insulation i would say 5 pounds max for the whole car!!!

Now i got ps2's and hre p40sc my next step is brake rotors, and ill call it a day.
From a rough math it will be almost 100 pounds unsprung weight

I don't think it's 100 lbs, but I definitely think it's more than 5 pounds. You'd be surprised how much things like paint on the car or powdercoat or chrome on the wheels adds to the weight.

About the only increase in sound deadening that is of any signifigance was from '06 to '07 when they added about 15-20 lbs. That is why the '06's are the lightest. That increase was all in the hatch area which offsets the weight gain with better traction.

Taking stuff off the car is always going to be cheapest, but Id rather spend the $ on the lightweight rotors because it will affect the performance more per lb.

I'm not sure if adding 15 lbs to the back of the car will help that much with better traction....

If you corner weight the car after, it won't really matter at all. You can transfer the weight with little adjustment.

Our cars are pretty traction limited. The 15 pounds does help, however, it isn't a whole lot.

You can only transfer weight from corner to corner. You cannot change the static front/rear weight bias or the right/left weight bias with suspension adjustments. When you add more spring to change the corner weights, the opposite tires go down in weight the same amount. Some people think that with coilovers, if you crank up the rear springs, it will shift more weight to the rear. It only makes the rear of the car higher. By the same token, cranking down the springs won't make the car lighter

Most of it went between the hatch floor and the carpet. They also added some bags of junk in the rocker panels in front of the rear wheel wells.

Musicmankeb,
I have taken 175 out of my car without loosing any driveability or convenience. I have a roster of all my weight mods (6 pages) and I admit that not all of them were cheap. If interested, PM me your e-mail address and I will shoot you a copy. And yes, one of those mods was removing the windshield washer tank. In Tucson, it is dead weight.
