The 2011 situation is merely a rare exception to the rule.

Had my bone stock 09 Z on the dyno last month. 455.61 hp - 432.39 tq
Took ten minutes to put the K&N filter on
( I have two stock mass air meters, one for each ) 476.45 hp - 446.84 tq
21 hp gain , no tuning, very pleased !
