2006-2008 ZO6 Performance Differences?
If I'm reading correctly, the regular C6 Corvettes switch from the LS2 engine to the LS3 which has a little more power, better flowing heads, etc... Are there any differences between those years when it comes to the ZO6? The ZO6 I drove a while back was an '08 and I know it had tons of power. It had just a tune and exhaust on it. My truck runs 11.8's in the 1/4 and I know that ZO6 would've destroyed it; wasn't even close by the sotp dyno.

The only changes between 06-08 is that in '08 they switches to the TR-6060 transmission, and I think they did some changes to the steering, but I am not sure.
All Z06's have the same LS7 motor that puts out 505 HP in stock form.

There have been no published internal design changes to LS7 since it's intro in the 2006 Z06. LS7 will go down in the history books as a 505 hp 427 cu in) engine from start to finish (2006-2013) without change (at least that we know of anyway). There have already been published statements from GM/Chevorlet that LS7 will not continue, as the move to smaller cubed engines is the future, their choice made necessary d/t new rules/regs re: fuel economy, emissions etc.
Other than engine, the Z06's tranny changed in 2008. There have been updates to it since it's intro as well. Other changes include the engine oil cooler (changed from air cooled to coolant cooled), the diff cooler changed along the way too. The steering ratio's changed, engine oil dry sump tanks enlarged, critical electronic systems manufacturer changed (to Bosch), half shafts changed are just a few outward changes. Wheels changed too.
Interiors changed twice since 2006. A lot of the major interior/stereo speakers change was in the last two years of C6 history will show since '13 is final year and we know what's on the table for the '13's at this point.
I think history will be VERY KIND to the 6th generation "Z" model Corvette as well as the LS3 models. I believe the sixth generation Vette will be akin to the C2 generation in some ways as time moves forward and C6 production ends.

Curious to know a lttle more about your truck that's running 11.80 quarters. If true, this thing's gonna give a ZO6 a close run on street tires. Maybe the perception if your truck is set up to be maxed out at this point, while the ZO6 just keeps climbing towards the 200 mph mark.

Almost the only thing that Tim414 forgot to mention was that for 08' they updated the suspension settings a bit to make the Z a bit less "twitchy" near the limit and a bit more forgiving. That's all I remember! (Nothing too specific.) Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or add more detail.

I don't have any vids of it doing 11.8's but this is it running 12.0?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzhB7ZsiBBQ
It's all in the 60' launching in 4wd. It cut consistent 1.61-1.63's. It was roughly 650rwhp with the last set-up, but I either had a head-gasket let go (we were experimenting with copper gaskets) or an injector hydrolocked the engine while I was on the way to the track one day and windowed the block.
This is a better shot of it launching, although still from when it was running low 12's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bedNfp5KuY
And the reason behind it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMqn0uc1SeQ
And this is my old truck (8300lbs on 37" tires): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cEp3gSJ_s0
And my current beater truck with just exhaust/tuner/intake (it's a regular cab 2wd): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhiLF9NFB5s
Yeah, I like talking about trucks.

I do remember thinking the traction control worked really well on the car, to me anyway. But then I don't have a lot of experience with that. Iirc there were 3 or 4 settings and I had it on the sport setting or something like that.

I think I've read that on here before also. How much lighter is it and where does the weight difference come from? And while I'm at it, what's the weight difference between a ZO6 and a regular C6?

My point is that not all weight increases are necessarily bad. Correcting weak areas are a positive move, even if it adds a little weight.
