I am still wondering why you ordered a new Z06 and turn around and post a thread like this...
Your getting the final year 427 Z06....these cars are going to history books in LESS than a year....I'd be FRIGGIN HAPPY....

Ls7engine issues
I have a 2013 aniversary convertable with 3600 miles i had a problem at 2000 miles with a hot start the engine would labor as if the battery was dieing.let the car cool down over nite ,it would start right up.i finally took the car back in to the dealer and let them take another look. Got a call the next day they are putting in a new engine under warranty and along with a badly worn clutch. Has any one had this issue

What year Z did you order? What are your plans with the car, mods etc? IMO if it has a warranty leave it stock and enjoy and if you keep it awhile get an extended warranty then enjoy it some more. If you have to mod it then choose your comfort level of the choices on here for the "fix" after you educate yourself and call the respected engine builders on here...then enjoy the car more. No reason to worry either way.

How are you planning on using the car? If you are like 95% of Corvette owners you will not have any issues. The LS7 engine issues aren't related to mods but they definitely are related to using the car as GM advertised it to be used. Very few of us do that so if you aren't planning on pushing the car to the limit 20 days per year 4 times per day for 30 minutes at a time for 3 years straight you are very unlikely to have an issue.
I bought my 08 with 13.5K miles on it in Aug of 09. I put 10 track days on it in 09, 20 in 10 and was working on 14 or 15 in 11 with about 24K miles on the car when the head of the exhaust valve in number 1 cylinder fell off. GM warrantied the engine. The engine was completely stock right down to the original air filter.
It wasn't fun having that happen but the blast I received from the previous track days was well worth it. These cars are something else when you have your foot to the floor and they are accelerating towards 160 mph (7K rpm) in 4th gear.

You have to keep what you read on here in perspective. The failures are a very small percentage (so far total only a fraction of 1% of all Z06's made as near as I can calculate). The other 99%+ with no motor issues don't show up here because there's nothing to write about. There are a lot of other factors as well (mods, track time, etc.). There are very few stock failures. The most well defined issue I have seen is on valve guide wear. From all I have seen on CF the LS7 is very reliable for a high performance engine.

This is an OLD thread! I did buy the Z, and now have 22,000 miles on it and am loving it. I learned a lot from the responses above and want to thank everyone on this great forum. I was tempted when the C7Z came out, but have decided to keep my "yellow beast!"

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
That is great, I like to hear success stories with our cars! I keep thinking I want a C7Z06, but I think I will wait a few more years to see if they get all of the issues sorted...like they did with the LS7...ha, ha.

I try not to pay too much attention to the dropped valve posts anymore...don't like worrying about something that may or may not ever happen. I will say, of the posts that I have seen...I haven't really seen any dropped valve issues on '09's and up that are still stock motor and stock tune.
OP I'd say you're fine here...my 3/36 just ran out and I purchased a 4yr GMPP from Dennis Fitchner (dealer on here) for peace of mind. You could always do the same.

been looking for a c6 z06 for awhile, so the % is small huh maybe don't even need to worry/fix it?
to repair it do they just replace the parts? (any decent shops can do it or do I need to find a z06 specific shop)
If I don't fix it and it acts up, I guess the whole engine need to be replaced? price tag?
there is a 08 z06 with 12k miles, looks to be in pretty good condition, decisions decisons. anyways I will probably go to drag strip once awhile, some canyon runs and highway funs, that's about it. car should be good don't need to worry too much?

Way old thread.
It is WAY more than 3%, and way more than $7k to fix a mishap.
Yes you need to worry.
