Well as i figured GM is only going to acknowledge the cars still in warranty coverage. Such BS that the issue is not in the 06 and 07 as my 06 has 11,000 miles and guide wear issue. Wow GM has just sh*t on the Corvette communtiy with a response like this.
I am taking this statement to the press on this one and seeing what response i get from them.

Is there any way to narrow down if you have a vehicle that could be affected other than listen to an already noisy valve train? That is quite a big time line.
If you have had your engine and or heads replaced recently is it safe to say that the problem is gone and even if you own a 2008-09-10? Have new long blocks been inspected or still an older batch that wasnt?
Are vehicles that are out of their current powertain warranty out of luck if the vehicle fails or will it be covered under some type of extended coverage? Your post admits fault and blame on GM's part for all those years. I cant see how GM could not accept a full warranty replacement in or out of warranty.

1. If you have already had a motor replaced under warranty in the past, are you elgible for a second replacement should the replacement motor fail.
2. Which VIN numbers are involved?
3. If you have had a motor fail in a 2008-2011 and paid out of pocket to have it replaced are you elgible for a refund?

In pretty underwhelmed as well. This statement does zero to answer any questions. All it said is if you have a problem are 100% stock and in warranty GM will fix it.

same questions as above with three extra ones.

I am sure if you guys PM or contact Evan he can answer some of those questions or get you to someone who can.
Hopefully that happens.
On another Note... what a huge SURPRISE... GM made a statement and virtually nobody is satisfied.
It's a start people. Many doubted a statement would even be posted.
I think I and many others called it before, Mike or whomever already had posted this information, the only thing that is different is the 08 MY is included here.
So rather than everyone Btch and complain about the statement, contact Evan and start sending your questions concerns.
I'd like to add, how many of you have sent your heads to WCCH , had worn guides and head work done by Richard, and then reported it to GM? Almost noone...so if you think the problem is more widespread than what GM is saying, send your findings to them. You can't fault them about your motor or problem if you never gave them a chance in the first place.

I like how the last statment says if modified your not covered. The laws which vary from state to state say that the manufacturer has to prove that the modifications damaged or caused the issue. So in theory this admission of guilt on GM's part would make them liable for modded vehicles as well.

If later you have a failure, its documented you were pro-active, they told you no problem sent you on your way.. they'd be hard pressed to hassle you about a replacement.
Further, majority of these modded cars have headers, hi flow cats, no cats, tuned around passing OBDII emission laws..so you can ask the state's attorney for help, but when GM tells them you violated state law by tampering with the exhaust, tune in the car, I have a feeling you are gonna be on your own.

So I've got an '08 that broke an exhaust valve in July at 31,xxx miles. To GM's credit, the engine was replaced under warranty. The replacement engine has a 12 month warranty. Big deal! My question: Was the replacement engine manufactured before Feb 2011?? How do I know? Should I contact the dealer?

What seems crucial, and I hope GM elaborates, is what does "a small number" of cars mean?
I doubt they can tell which VIN numbers are involved, it seems them saying "a small number" over so many years would suggest the machining problem in the heads was either intermittent or variable or they don't really know.
Was there one guy making the error, was it one machine, was it an inspector, who knows, and likely not easy to see which cars got what....if it really is " a small number of cars over 3 years."
