Default ZR1 muffler mod

Has anyone done the muffler mod on their zr1 here? I know a couple guys that have done it on zo6s but I havent seen any videos or heard of anyone doing it on zr1s. I'm not sure if htey are the same mufflers or not.

I am looking to do a M2W with the muffler mod if possible. I'd like to hear a video of what they sound like though first.

Thanks,
Greg

I think the Zr1 already had the muffler Mod on it done from the factory.

The internal pipe inside the muffler that routes to the exhaust tip with the valve and the flap that opens and closes is perforated on the z06 and it is not on the zr1 or later model 2011 and up z06;s. The muffler mod is wrapping that perforated pipe with sheet metal and clamping it or welding it to the peforated pipe.

This is all speculation as no-one on the forum has reported cutting into zr1 or post 2011 z06 mufflers to see what they look like on the inside

Actually both pipes are perforated and with the muffler mod you are clamping metal around it to make it a solid pipe. So if you did the muffler mod it would make the ZR1 mufflers even louder. How much louder? I don't know that.

That's what I have, and the owner Ben is the best person I've ever dealt with bar none. Very kind, cool and helpful...I would make it a point to buy from Sunset Orange Creations.

Actually I was thinking that Mr Gizmo in post #2 was correct.

My stock ZR1 in open mode is definitely louder than my stock Z06 was, and considering the LS9 is a much lower compression engine than the LS7, something is different to give the ZR1 the volume that it has.

Since many know what the inside of the Z06 cans look like, maybe someone can chime in that has had them both apart...

With my being new to my ZR1 and C6's in general, is a Corsa brand the clear choice for an aftermarket muffler for the ZR1s? I suppose you are happy with your decision?

I personally think so! Akra is another option but totally different sound, less raspy, and 2x the price atleast.

Akra is pretty pricey, but I like that one a lot. I carry both Akrapovic and Corsa so I'm not biased towards either one

Hi friends !

I Installed yesterday the x Pipe corsa on my zr1 of 2012 and GM did a good job with the 4 cat because almost no change in noise, the central console heats less so in the end I'm still happy! I'm still looking for a better sound ... I still do not know if the stock muffler are already mod or are there holes in the central part where there are valves. My garage asks me $ 600 to dismantle open solder and go up ... I think strongly to take directly a Borola ATAK or other if it exists even better thank you for your answers
