[Z06] The "legendary ls7"

The "legendary ls7"
From:

"Below 4,000 rpm, the torque of the Corvette LT1 is comparable to that of the legendary, 7.0L LS7 out of the current Corvette Z06."
So, the z06 is GM's bastard child and corporate laughing stock, and they want to sell me on the new LT1 engine based on... what again?
We have many young z06 drivers. Please never let GM forget the dump they took on our faces again and again.

I read that same article and can remember thinking about the choice of the word, "legendary". What bothered me about it was maybe the idea that the ls7 is a thing of the past and now we (GM) are learning from our mistakes. But, no that's just in my head as I'm worried about the valve issue too. I say buy a warranty or new cylinder heads or wait for the winter to be over and hopefully GM will have it figured out by the. I've already disowned a couple of other makes (Acura for one) so I need to slow down or else I'll run out of cars i can buy.

i think they mean Legendary, in that back in 2006 when the C6 Z06 first came out, it was a reel huge leap in performance for the money! 65K and you could crush everything from Lambo's, Ferrari's, Porsche's, to almost every production car costing to 250k!! hell it was even faster than a modified 03-04 Cobra making 530rwhp! this car was a heartbreaker back in '06
i'm almost certain the Hp wars began with this car .. just think about it, a few years later all the car manufacturers started bumping up the hp on all their cars, even Ford's GT500!!

It would be sad if GM could not improve upon a engine that is now been around in a production vehicle since 2006 and probably in engineering version since 2 years before that. The new generation engines are definitely going to show the LS7/LS3 and even the LS9 something. The march of technology.
I, for one, am happy to have the last of the large CI displacement engines in my garage. GM can continue on and even produce more power and I might be temped to ADD one of those Vettes to my garage, but not replace that LS7 based Z06.

I wish Mods would just lock threads like this. It serves 0 purpose other than people whining and complaining like a 3 year old... let's spread more negativity cuz we don't have enough of it already

Even the general public knows that the Z06 has the "427" and it is a good thing, even if they don't know what exactly that means. Specifying the LS7 IMHO is really just them tying in the old with the new, and trying to create excitement by calling on our collective imagination of powerful cars meant to be driven fast.
I really don't see it as any more than a PR campaign riding on the coat tails of prior successes (and the Z06 was one of them).

People don't understand that the supposed "valve issue" is not even known if you are not on Corvette Forum. I have hundreds of customers that have never heard of the issue because they are not on this forum. It is amazing how thick it's been spread around on here
