Default 1st Time to the 1/4 Mile Track...

Today was my first day taking my Z to the track since I purchased it last summer.

It has a built motor, Pfadt coilovers (fairly stiff), and MT 315/35x17 Drag Radials.

The best I was able to perform was a 10.7 ET, 132MPH Trap speed, 1.7 60ft time.

The absolute hardest part was getting past the 1.7 60ft time... The rear coilover suspension was not giving enough and needed some type of adjustment that I couldn't perform at the track. It seemed if I gave it any more throttle it would just basically just hop and get a little crazy....

I feel there is much more for me to learn and the car def has at least another half second off the ET judging from my marginal launches.

Oh well, there is always next time. Just thought I would share my small victory for the day.

Not bad. Definitely seems you need to take some preload off the rear springs. Maybe a little lower air pressure. Depending on what you were running! Glad to see you out racing.

Excellent. Especially for the first time out.

definitely no real drag experience here but I've got my Pfadts set pretty damn soft in the rear to get enough weight transfer to the back. I road course track the car so it's not full soft or anything but the rear is considerably softer than the front.

I get pretty good transfer and power-on traction has gotten a lot better.

It's all in the launch, with your clutch and throttle foot work. Switching to the Hoosier DR will help as well, with the Hoosier recovering much better from wheel spin than any other DR.

Excellent job for you first time out

Thanks for all the kind words!

I got to the track, set the tires to 15psi and ran with them for a while. They eventually got to 18psi so I dropped them back down to 15psi again.

As for the Pfadts, I need to find some instructions on those guys and try getting it a little softer for sure, hopefully that helps.

As for Hoosiers, I'll have to wait till the MT's are gone as I just got them

Thanks for all the pointers.

Not bad at all. Launching these cars is an art in itself. Running 10's the first time out is very good.

What clutch are you running?

Since Brian's asleep at the wheel, I'll answer for him. Hope he doesn't mind.

RXT clutch. 454CID n/a with stock LS7 heads worked by Darin Morgan and a custom cam by someone whom I don't remember and is putting down 600rwhp.

Just needs to work on launch and ahift points, and he should run a low 10 sec pass. Proper tire as well.
