Default Need advice on a lightweight battery

My research shows these are the best options to drop 20-30lbs from the battery, but am I missing any...& who's used these & what are your thoughts?

Optima
Shorai
Braille
Deka

My car is a CA. (mild temps) weekend only driver & I always plug it into my Battery Tender when not in use.

I'm leaning toward the 5 lbs. Shorai lithium battery, & thanks for any input.

OEM Battery---------->Delco 90-6YR 36lbs
OEM Battery---------->Braille Lithium Ion 340R 9lbs (-25lbs)
OEM Battery---------->Braille B14115 11lbs (-25lbs)
OEM Battery---------->Braille B2015C 15 lbs (-21lbs)
OEM Battery---------->Deka Sports ETX16L 15.5lbs (-20.5lbs)
OEM Battery---------->Braille B2317 17lbs (-19lbs)

I am also going to try the Shorai. I sent Jason(Katech) a PM a while back and he seemed to really like his experience to that time with the Shorai. I got the foam pieces to secure the Shorai in the compartment, but my stock gM battery keeps on ticking......

I had good luck and liked the Shorai. Get the charger and order a set of posts from Braillle. Put it on the charger every night. I ended up killing mine but it was my fault, not the battery's. I left mine off the charger for two consecutive nights then had my tuner work in my car about 45 minutes without starting it and the voltage dropped enough to kill it. I still plan on ordering another one.

Good advice & many thanks gents, leaning even more toward the Shorai. Any advice as to which model(s) Braille posts, & mounting solution?

I saw another forum member's car with a lightweight battery and it had a foam block around the battery which I guess made it 'regular size' so it filled the battery compartment nicely.

Might be on Katech's site since this was a Katech Street Attack car.

EDIT: Here it is - http://store.katechengines.com/brail...ount-p183.aspx

I have had a few Brailles and they were really small and lightweight and worked for me.

45 minutes is not that long to use battery power without starting.

I had a braille - I think the 11# if i recall correctly -- if the car sat for more than 3 days without a tender it would have lost enough juice to not crank.

I'm now using an Odyssey PC925 -- it's 25lbs and I have yet to get a no-start condition with it. (even after sitting for 1 week+)

That was after two nights of parasitic drain without the tender. Don't forget that when you turn on the ignition, the lights come on also. Also, don't forget that with a lightweight battery you are going to have to give up a lot of reserve power and pay attention to the needs of the battery. That is, of course, unless you are willing to spend $1800 on a Braille Li. Anyone nervous about a small battery or are looking for one to be as user friendly as the stock battery should leave the stocker in place.

I have a Braille B2015 with the Katech foam housing, it works great and I can leave it sitting for a week and it always fires right up. Great battery atleast in my experience.
