Default Built T56 or New TR6060

My 07 Z is starting to show signs of a tranny replacement. What do you guys think will be better? A semi built T56 from someone like RPM or RK OR a fresh 08+ TR6060? Either one will have the added tranny brace.

I am putting down a solid 500whp and I like to feel all the ponies and maybe the occasional drag strip.

I would install a built MM6 TR6060 with custom overdrives and be done with it.

I had RPM rebuild the T56 in my 07. They do a great job and it's ready for 700hp.

Any built trans is going to be better than an oem replacement trans.

How much would this cost outright? I have an 07 and am curious what it would cost to switch to a 6060.

Basically same 6060 tranny, different ratios. Clutch is completely different.

Our fully built MM6 ratio TR6060 is $4,800 outright. If we get 3 buyers for the custom (.80/.63) overdrive MM6 TR6060's, we can do $4,995 outright. This unit will have all new gears.

Hi gang. This is my first post. 07 Z06 with a T-56 17,300 mi. Suffered catastrophic transmission failure. 5th gear was worn down to little nubs. Out of warranty and I'm one unhappy camper hoping GM will assist. Dealer recommending replacing entire unit. Should I request/demand a Tr6060? Should I look aftermarket? This is a weekend driver car all stock except for K&n intake and a chip. Is the 6060 an upgrade? Will I need to replace the clutch if I change? Thanks.

6060 is an upgrade. Make sure to flush the lines and radiator or replace them.

Give us a call, TR6060 would be a better option and you can customize the over drives to suite your needs. We can also give you credit for the broken T56.

"If" you can get GM to help out, they likely will NOT go more than 50% of cost since it's long out of warranty....and MOST LIKELY only on original equipment. Bummer I know...hopefully they'll do more to help you out in this matter...

But, give it a try...all they can say is no....good luck. If you have to go it alone I would trade the in 56 for a 6060....

That seems like just a rebuilt t56. I wanted to know to convert it to a 6060 with all the good options. I don't need different gearing, I like the current gearing but just want the strongest parts.
