Default 2006 z06

My 2006 C6Z has 25,790 miles with no issues and is not a daily driver, the car still runs as strong as it did the day I bought it new. So far so good.

Bought mine totalled in 09 63k on the clock when I got it. Replaced RF half of the frame and complete front end. Engine was like new inside and out. Built by "The Pit Crew". 66k on it now no problems,in fact I just pulled all the plugs looking for oil or oil burning signs and found none. And I beat the snot out of this car! (after the oil warms up)

BTW I love this thread!

Would love to hear more responses and then tally it up after few weeks. lets keep it on the subject... all the other threads make it seem that z06's are blowing up left and right

i've openly admitted that i'm not the best with math. can you be the one to help me? since you're the 200k white night riding on the invincible steed, stop by my place in golden CO on your next 8 million mile road trip and look at my .064" guide clearance and help me figure out what percent it's out of spec. that is out of spec right?

<.0037 is within gm's limit for being in spec. Not many have gotten measurements over .0160. Usually by then your LS7 has become a nice boat anchor.
Most of my exhaust guides were in the .0148 range. I got Very lucky!

The only people who can say they do not have any problems are those who have had their guides checked and were in spec.

These people talking about not having any concern, this valve problem being blown out of portion, their car perfect, changing their oil regularly, having no abnormal noise, and have not had their valve guide clearance checked are just fools.
That's what's so scary about this problem, it can happen at any speed, any rpm, stock, modded, low miles, or high miles without any warning. BOOM your done.
I hate to say it but there is going to be alot of "I Told You So's."

There, are plenty of American spec M3s on sale over here if you ever wanted another one, and more than enough people (Germans and Americans) would would take your Z off your hands too if you are concerned about the LS7 and can't figure out how to get your done over here.

2008 with 134K miles. I have 18 track days on it. I never drive it easy but I don't abuse it. I still have the stock drive line with original clutch and transmission. It still has the original belts and hoses. I'm on the second set of replacement rotors and 5th set of brake pads. I've lost track of the sets of tires but I'd guess I'm on the 8th set now. Sad to say but I think the drivers seat is getting worn out. I'll have to do something about that one of these days.

It doesn't have a stock suspension anymore. I swapped that out at around 95K. I had to replace a cat at 105K. As a bonus, I still get 21-22 mpg in combined driving.

The car has provided more grins per mile (and stories) than any other car I've ever owned. It's as much fun to drive today as it was the day I bought it.
