Default WARNING TO GEICO CUSTOMERS WITH Zs.

Today I was immediately informed by Geico that my car will not be insured anymore with them due to engine modifications. They have a strict policy stating that exhaust and engine modifications are a non starter and they will not insure cars with these.

Well it's time to rip the lizard decals off my car. I deal with Grundy anyway. They insure all vettes and my Z costs me $562 a year.

Well I will need to find a new ins. company, and that is going to be hard now because as I remember it, Geico was the only company that was willing to insure my Z for a normal rate. Allstate wanted guess what? $450 a month!

Casual conversation between a body shop manager and a Geico ins adjuster occurred when my car was getting a new exhaust put in is all I can think of.

Have you tried State Farm? I pay around $350 every 6 months. Maybe even less, I can't remember.

That sucks I have geico myself, I was under the impression they would insure your car just not any modifications that would be done to the car. Example: you file a claim you will be paid whatever retail value is. Doesn't matter if you have and extra grand or 40k even with paperwork.
I need to maybe start looking myself then cause Im far from stock.

I have never heard of an insurance company making any inquiries as to modifications to the car. I can't imagine why exhaust would be included as a reason for denial. Most companies don't even differentiate between a Z06 and a coupe. I know mine (Safety) does not.

It sounds to me like GEICO just doesn't want to insure high performance vehicles.

Try Travelers. I've had good luck with them, they saved me a lot over Farmers. I think it has a lot to do where you live. Also, most insurance companies will give you a better deal if they have your house, car, ect bundled under them.

Has everything to do with where you live. CA is absolutely horrible especially LA. Like probably 4x as much as other states.

If your record is good try Amica. I was with Allstate for 40 years same agent and his son and Amica blew them away on my 2 Z06's and baby Hummer. They are also rated number one customer service!
