Look what I found!!
Just wanted to share! My 2007 ZO6 was having a major lack of power issue, stumbling and after shutting it down I had hard time starting again, and ran extremely rough!! So, after reviewing a thread on this forum, I decided to inspect the MAS, and found a piece of laminated cardboard that had wrap itself around the MAS. Turns out, it was part of the air filter housing. It has this note on it "Non-Serviceable - Do Not Remove" . I removed it, and my ZO6 was back!!! researching to see if it is necessary. I suppose it is used for directing air. The manual doesn't mention it. There is another one still attached in the housing. Thanks for direction from this forum.

There are two hydrocarbon emission pads; one on the top and one on the bottom.
As mentioned, this is a know issue with the stock intake and as good a reason as I can think of to install a Halltech MF103.
CARB would not certify our intake in CA due to our inability to perform a 150,000 test on these pads. Obviously, GM did not pass either, but got certification anyway.
Katech actually obtained the OE pads and tested them on our intake, with good adhesion. Unfortunately, CARB requires testing beyond any aftermarket intake company's R&D budget which put our application in the round file.
I later found out that this stone wall was the reason K&N, and other major companies threw in the towel on the 2006 Z06 to current CARB EO numbers.

The Republik of Kalifornia, once a Mecca for Great Cars and the Good Life, is now slowly sinking into the ocean under the weight of its increasing population and the regulations necessary to keep those teeming millions in check.
Sorry to hear it is defeating even the best of vendors.
