Default 2013 z06 sitting on lot since Oct2012?

Question... I've located a great 2013 Z06, and may head to purchase it this coming Monday. (So woo hoo for me)... I do have a slight concern that it has been sitting in the lot since Oct2012, honestly wondering why such a great car had never been snatched up. Does anyone think its of a concern, or, just that possibly the price of the car (@ 90K MSRP) may have just scared some off.

In-advance THANKS!

just low demand & high price, I suspect...

my ZR1 sat on the dealer's lot for nine months before I bought it...

negotiate the best deal you can and go for it !

(insist on a new OEM battery, b-t-w).

How deep is the discount? At this point you should be able to get a screaming deal. Before you pull the trigger, make sure the car is freshly washed- then look carefully to make sure there are no water spots on the paint.

Many years ago I bought a new car (Chevy) that had been on the lot for several months. I didn't think much of the light coating of dust on the car until I got home and washed it. Only then did I see the water spots everywhere. They were never able to get them off and ended up giving me a crappy repaint. Between that and some nightmares in dealing with their horrible service dept. on other issues, I didn't buy another new Chevy for over 20 years. They've come a ways since then but it can't hurt to check it out. Good luck on the purchase.

Excellent point on the waterspot items....let alone just sitting out in general and sun fading possible. As it sits, they offer the $2000 rebate plus my supplier discount...so lets call it $9400. (I could swear that some of the larger dealers were showing 14K+ off at one point). Super nice car... black with red stitching, CF hood, some CF interior items but when you open the doors it is obvious where the dust has gathered. All-in-all -9500 off just does not seem like much for a car that is 1yr sitting and the 2014's are coming in as-we-speak. (I did love the car).

Here are some current prices at the dealership where I got my 2008 Z06 new. It doesn't account for different options, colors, or the convenience of buying local to you, but it does give you something to compare to-

Have you checked with Tim @ Boardwalk? His Z06s are deeply discounted right now .. 20K+ !! I know he has a brand new 2013 velocity yellow 2LZ for sale at an amazing price!

That's actually the dealership that I linked to in my prior post. It's pretty hard to match their prices anywhere else.

Trading anything in, or just outright sale?

My 2011 Z06/Z07 was at the dealer for 13 months until I bought it at a 21% discount off MSRP. I have owned it for a year and a half; no issues.

If it is the color and options you want then go for it but as others have said dont just do it because it looks like a great deal because it sure isn't that. good luck with it though. Beat 'em down some more

If it has been sitting that long you will problem have some issues. Correctable, yes, but you will have to work on it. Mine sat for 13 mos. and most of it outside. I had waterspots and brake dust stains on the wheel barrels. It had 200 miles on it , demo miles. So just be aware that some of those things will probably need fixing.

The mileage would be my big concern. Take Got2Hav1's 200 miles, I'd have to wonder how many of those 200 miles were at 7,000 rev limit. I may run mine to the limit but I wouldn't want a car that someone else already rung the crap out of it. As for water spots and brake dust, I'd just make sure that was all remedied before signing on the doted line.

As for the discount and all, having the exact car I wanted is more important to me. 30% off for one that wasn't the color I wanted is no deal to me.

I bought my 13 z06 from Tim, it was discounted almost 19k for a 2LZ with the black cup wheels, F55 etc. I also think they are covering shipping also up to a certain amount.

So you've never bought a used sports car? I can't justify the price of buying new on depreciation alone. Must be the accountant in me.

These cars are made to take a beating so if a few people went out with a salesman.. did a pull or two.. who cares. OP - If you like the car and are agreeable to the price, jump on it.

I understand what you're saying, but only up to a point. First of all, at the discounts that Boardwalk is offering, most of the depreciation has already been absorbed. Secondly, many test drives are done with no consideration towards having water & oil temps warmed up to the proper temps- not good for engines, especially new ones, when they are being wrung out cold. The clutch can also take a beating from folks who slip it out of fear or simply abuse it because they lack experience. I've seen folks buy new Vettes who learned how to drive a clutch in them and there's no way those clutches lived a full lifespan. I don't buy cars often, but when I do I tend to shop carefully, buy new, and keep them long term. The depreciation becomes less of a factor that way. My approach works for me and it seems that your way works for you.

You should be getting somewhere between 20-25k off a 90k sticker price on that car. -

$20K off for sure (a one-yr old new car), and if it's the car you want and that's as low as the dealer will go,
don't let it stop you ! G-L...

Here is a link of a forum vendor that has a couple of z06's that look like they are stored inside for 20k off sticker. - you might be able to work him another 5 to 7k off.
