Default Best Cam? WCCH Heads/Stock Exhaust

I'm going to be upgrading as a precautionary measure to WCCH Stage 2 heads. I want to do a cam at the same time but won't be doing headers for now.

What do you think would be the best cam for this setup?

With that cam and no headers you will lose 20 to 30 RWHP.

What are your intentions with your car?

Max Power? Street? Auto Cross? Drag?

After that there are a ton of Vendors that will step in and help you out i'm sure.

Most named cams are using Compcam lobes. Just order yourself a custom Compcam 226 LXL intake lobe and a 247 LSL exhaust lobe on a 114 lsa. Then you will know exactly what lobe profiles your cam has. Most named cams use XE-R lobes. Look at the following to read all about the different lobe characteristics:

To me that's not the end of the world, traction is already limited.

And at least that much torque in the lower RPM ranges.

I would look at the 116 instead of the 110.

Default Best Cam?

Attached is the dyno run from my 2008 Z06 with Lethal Phantom Cam, Lethal ported OEM intake manifold, Lethal tune, stock throttle body, stock exhaust manifolds, and muffler mod. Note the the great low rpm RW torque and the great RWHP with no headers and stock GM heads. I expect this is better than you can do with a Torquer 110. Realize that the idle quality will be degraded from stock but should be comparable to the Torquer 110 -- there will be idle lope and some cowl shake even at 900 rpm idle speed. I expect you will do better even with the OEM exhaust manifolds with the WCCH heads, expecially if you have them milled for a little more compression than stock.

BTW, my heads have already been replaced by GM, as have the inlet and exhaust valves due to worn valve guides.

If the link to my dyno run give issues, the peak RWHP is 526 and the peak RWT is 505 ft-lbs with over 400 ft-lbs RWT available from 2800 rpm to 6700 rpm.

Actually, I would expect idle quality to be closer to the Torquer 116, although the Phantom is on a 114, I believe.

Steve, your car is not as bad as you think in comparison to some of the larger cams out there. You should have felt my car with the Lethal cam from Ragin' Racin'. That cam failed MY wife factor big time. She tolerates this one.

Still debating on a Fast LSX intake. I'll have my car back to Shawn the week of the 14th.

I like what I'm seeing from this cam.

How does it lug around in parking lots? If you blip the throttle in Neutral does it idle surf?

228/248 622/644 114 Phantom is that right?

What is the 116?

Thanks

The same could be said about a stock Z06; "It's already traction limited, why add a cam?". Tires and throttle modulation help.

But if you're set on just a cam, there's plenty of options. If you're concerned with traction maybe select a cam that comes on later. Some of the more popular cams add a lot of torque down low; maybe not what you're looking for if you're already concerned with traction issues.

I will bet we have a lot of data on the power/Tq that the 116 will cost you over the 110. Can someone share it?

There are Dyno charts on the Katech website that show the difference.

This thread talks about 110, 116 and K501

Here's my torquer 110 with all the bells 'n whistles! The torque is amazing for the street. Plus.. a 10.6X quarter mile time isn't bad either. In addition, it's my daily driver and is V-E-R-Y streetable

would love to do an exh. manifold upgrade but it looks like stage 2 heads + cam + intake would be about all im going to do on my Z... looking for videos now on what a Z with a cam and without headers sounds like.
