Thanks. I already own the GS, so its a run what you brung, LOL or trade in for another car.. No, it won't be the "best" but I'm not looking to be at a truly competitive level at this point.. And technically with the C6, since I did exhaust, I can run race tires without any class change....

The GS is a better car than both the Z06 and ZR1 for autocrossing.
Z06 and ZR1 isn't geared well for autocross. 1st is too short, 2nd is too tall. And in the case of the ZR1 (or Z06 with MSRC) the soft MSRC won't be doing you any favors.
The fastest C6s seem to be a base GS. It's geared just right, has enough power, can use the big tires under the wide body, and can upgrade to a stiffer shock setup. The GS was the quickest Vette at Nationals this year. A C5Z is the 2nd best Vette for autocrossers. A little less tire on the car compared to the wide body C6s, but narrower and still geared well.

As someone who went from a C6 Z51 to a C6 Z06, I'd say it's worth it.

However, the discussion is about which C6 to get and the poster said he was an autocrosser. If he is serious about autocrossing, the C6 GS is the best C6 for autocrossing as I explained above.

My response was to Jawnathin who said the fastest C6s tend to be the Grandsports. And that was the question here, whether or not someone should trade up from a Grandsport to a Z06. And my contention is that, given the same driver in both cars, a Z06 will be faster.

To each their own... When I was looking for a Vette I was torn between a used z06 or a new GS... I went with the GS because the motors seem to hold boost more & I loved the fact I could afford it new and not have to buy a used Vette for mu 1st one, also removing the top is a bonus! They both have their + & - ... Rele what your happy w/ @ the end of the day, each can be modded to suit your needs (:

i think if you test drive a Z06 you buy a Z06.. hell with which one faster on track. Z06 has aluminum frame and carbon fenders which give you better weight dist. I just know drive Z06 it makes an impression. I drove both back to back and was a no brainier. If wait for a zr1 sure even better. But a GS to Z06 is bigger jump.
