Default spinning nt05r bad!

what do you guys think??

Went to the track and besides breaking a master cyl or something, I had horrible runs.. Im use to launching with mt et streets or hoosiers on 17" wheels, these nitto nt05r's are on my 19x12s..
I was launching at 5k rpms and at the top of first it spun bad and then all the way through second.. I heated them up well during the burnout.. track was prepped well.. but a couple of people said it might be bc the tires are new.. I literally just mounted them, drove to track(50miles) and made 2 passes..
Or maybe the 17lbs was too little and was spinning bc of the harder sidewalls? I tend to think its the first..
Went from running mid 10s to mid 11s lol.

Maybe its my driving that needs to change? I have 600rwhp and with the et streets or hoosiers I just nail it.. not squeezing the throttle.. launch at 6k normally and quick shift and mash the pedal down to the floor asap lol. no spinning with the hoosiers or et streets..

Thoughts?

I'm sure with those tires you can't just mash the gas like you do on your 17's. You'd probably have to slip the clutch a decent amount to help keep them from spinning. I have only been to the track on my 17s with hoosiers but I plan on taking my 19s and nt05r's at some point to see how I do. 1.6 60ft should be attainable. If I remember i'll let you know how it goes.

I would try more air pressure and they will stick better after a few passes to get the new worn off. A friend of mine has been 10.88 with NT05r with bolt ons. They will never do as well as the 17s you spoke of.

Combo of all. They like different pressure and you can't shock them at all. Got to take it easy and slip into it or ease into the power.

Yep, agreed with above all. I'm running at 671/660 to the wheels @ 6psi and I can walk into top of 1st and nail it in 2nd gear and I have very little to no wheel spin. Grant it, this is on the street and not a prepped surface, etc. I was able to do this day one and now 2000+ miles of daily driving =).

Yeah man...let the world know. I couldn't get them to hook....ever. Not at 9 psi, not at 15, or 30, or anywhere in between. Not slipping the clutch, or popping...forget power shifting. Street or track, prepped or not. I'm only at 500 rw...they NEVER hooked for me. And the "sway" at 80 mph on the freeway, eff that. Worse is, I've always been a solid proponent of Nitto. I ran the 345's for 400 miles, and sold them. This is ONLY MY experience. I don't want want to turn this into a which tire is better thread. They didn't work for me...I hope they do work better with some technique for you.

PS...wheels still look AMAZING BTW!

Very interesting, I almost wonder if the tires they produce are just not consistent. Also to clarify my earlier post, I run on 6psi of boost not tire pressure. My front/rear pressure is also the same +/- a lb and I run them at 32-35psi I believe on the street and have no real issues hooking with the amount of power I make. Again, your mileage may vary =).

My car has h/c/I and I drive around on the same tires. I can get them to work decent in 1st and they get full traction in 2nd on the street. If your car swayed then maybe they weren't balanced properly

I watched the guy balance them. They zero'd out. Kind of hard to mess that up. They're either balanced or they're not. I'm not trying to make excuses for them...it is what it is. I now run 335 NTO5's. I can hook them just about anywhere except 1st gear (and sometimes 2nd if it's cold out).

Try no burnout. If that doesn't give you a better launch do a slight burnout but don't go through the water.

hmm that makes no sense at all. I went from the same 335's to the NTO5r's and had the opposite results. You must of just got a bad set or something. These tires are capable of 1.5 60fts with the right driver on a H/C car so they must work decent.

Dont know what to say man. Been racing 15 years. About 300 track passes, and probably double that on street passes.

They sucked for me. Period.
