Default Is my car a freak or is lethal performance just really good at tuning :P

Back in May I bought my 2008 Atomic orange z06 for 42.9k with 35k miles. The car came with corsa exhaust and lingenfelter intake and no warranty :P

I paid $3,800 to get the LS7 valve fix and heavy valve springs, bronze guides, R&R heads, and to replace the oil pan/gasket as it was leaking, ohh and a tune. In addition, they punched out my cats as there is no emission testing here in san antonio.

My car made 497 rwhp and 478 rwtq on 93. I see people with cams making less, or headers/intake/exhaust making around the same. Then I see freaks of nature making 600 rwhp+. What's the secret sauce to the freak z06's? What's the best power for the money mods?

In october I'm doing the following:

American racing 2" headers with x-pipe
Comp cam shaft
Mcleod rxt twin disc + alum flywheel and clutch hydraulic system maintenance.

My power goal is 580rwhp+ N/A. I think I'll be happy with 580 rwhp on 93, but plan on using a flex fuel kit to get 600+ on e85 with 90# injectors.

Thanks

Not all dyno's are the same, you are just likely on a happy dyno

I thought dyno jets were the most accurate and maintained higher consistency than mustang dynos. In the video they are using a dyno jet. I was under the impression the dyno jet didn't need much calibration.

You car is not really a freak but I am sure they milled the heads and with valves that are not leaking it should be making that power with a tune a some bolt ons. Mine bone stock made 478/452 on a superflow in superflow numbers. Then after a tune just for WOT AFR no added timing it made 491/460 on Cali 91 octane. Keep in mind my car has really high compression stock. Pistons were way out of the hole.

Did the heads get milled when fixed, that can gain 20+ rwhp depending on the cr.

Lethal's dyno is not a "happy" dyno LOL

OP, have you ran it at SAR yet? I know this isn't the greatest weather but it'll help determine if your car is a freak. I made identical numbers with my Z06 there (milled heads, intake)..... But mine had headers

I'm gonna run in October. I haven't been there since I ran the mustang last November. I prefer to race in the Fall for the lower IAT's.

Here's my last race :

I'll have the headers/cams/clutch/re tune done before I run again in Nov.

I hear ya on that! Me and some buddies were talking about your car the other day, how it made that much power on Lethal's dyno and how it very well might be a freak My car also had a different clutch at the time. If I remember the numbers it made 498/478.

My car made 490 with headers/intake/tune. Friends did 502whp with intake/headers/tune. Nothing strange or out of line with your numbers.

600+ cars aren't freaks, just more aggressive cams/compression/heads than a cammed car making 550-580rwhp
