Heads replaced under warranty
I just wanted to thank this forum for all the "heads" up regarding dropped valves/wiggle test/valve guide wear. I took my '09 with 19,000 easy (mostly) miles to the dealership to have the wiggle test performed and the guides were out of spec to the extreme. The service manager seemed surprised they were so bad and was glad I brought it in when I did, even though he was skeptical at first and made sure I understood I'd be responsible for the $600 labor charge if they were in spec.
The heads were replaced under the GMPP warranty and Classic Chevrolet made everything pretty painless. I know I'll likely still have to have the heads reworked, but at least this starts me back at zero...
Thanks to the recommendations on this forum, I drove 3 hours to make sure Classic was the dealership to work on my car.
Don't listen to the naysayers, get your heads checked and/or fixed!

The car was not making any strange noises nor consuming oil, but it did feel like it had lost a little power.
All the shop said was that my heads were being replaced; not sure about complete vs non-complete...

Reading this thread is there a recall of any sort about this. On another thread someone told me that it is normal to have these pieces on magnet upto about 15k miles. My Z has 8k miles on it and has never seen over 6k rpm. (rarely that, T just wanted to have a 427 )
Thanks Mike

^ but can you confirm whether or not the clearances on the new GM heads were measured before installation ?
If not, this factor is still an unknown. Good all was replaced under warranty nonetheless...

A "Good news" story is always good, especially given the reputation of the LS7 Valves.
Glad you were taken care of the the right way.

I would refrain from driving the car until you get that report.
The metal 'paste' on the magnet is normal. Shavings probably are not normal. Grit in the oil is not normal.
