Any LS tool will work. The 5462 will work for the LS7.

I've tried them all. None will work properly.... the LS7 is 1.7 ratio vs 1.6. You risk damaging the valve stems w/a 1.6 tool.

Best bet is old school crank style with all corners & sharp edges carefully hand chamfered to prevent the spring from being nicked, dented, or scratched.

utilizes it’s proprietary “Floating Valve Angle Axis” combined with precision lead screw technology which allows the tool to automatically adjust for valve angle variance and easily compresses the springs straight down in all applications.
Sounds like they are on the right track

Default LSM works great

With a air compressor you can change the spring in less than an hour assuming you have them shimmed right to begin with.

That's what I use, too. Quality tool, for sure. Unfortunately, supply is a bit tight right now but Summit Racing has some in stock.

Mark, doesn't the rocker arm itself determine the ratio? If so, wouldn't the basic casting be the same for the rocker base to valve relation?

I had one, didn't like the way it loaded up the retainer, so I sold it. YMMV.

Also tried one of thr LS1Tech versions. It's in the junkbox now (same issue -- wrong ratio). You have to look close at the retainer when compressing the spring to see the problem.

Well it appears clear that this one is the only one that works correctly on the LS7, and mostly foolproof, so it is clearly the way to go.

2nd, not all pros are really pros so I would caution against unconditionally worshipping at their feet.

No worshipping going on here.

That said, I have always received better advice on tools from guys who use them every day to make a living, than from internet experts.

Just sayin'
