Default Tech Help! anyone had thier exhaust NPP solenoid Fail on thier Z06

I have a 2009 Z06 and it seems the exhaust module or soledoid in the rear stopped working. Flaps stayed open. After some diagnostics with the guys from Sunset Orange Creations it turns out there is Vacume all the way to the Vacume ball in the rear. seems its not working from there on up. I took it to the dealer and they are telling me that the ext. warranty will not cover it becaus it falls under exhaust parts which is considered ware and tear. They wanted to charge me $742 parts and labor.

Hell to the naw!

Im just going to replace it myself. Anyone done this before ?
whats the easiest way to get in there? I know the soledoid that is right behind the inner passager tailight but its hard to get to it and work on it. also where is the module? in the car?

do i need to remove the mufflers or do i need to remove the rear bumber or just the rear valance?

thanks!
RoB

The solenoid is a $60 - $70 part. Part number 25794609. It is number 14 on the attached diagram but usually the hoses will come with it. I bought mine on ebay.

You can get to it by removing the inner passenger taillight. It is under a cover that can be moved to allow access to the solenoid. There's not much room in there so you'll need to go by feel to find it. I've also attached a picture of the solenoid so you know what to feel for. You will also probably need to remove the outer passenger taillight so you can reach your other arm in there to undo the hoses that are connected to it. That's the hardest part. They're on there tight, but not clamped. Just pull them off.

RoB!
No prob, it's a pretty straightforward job. Good luck!

The name (intake manifold tuning valve solenoid) of the part in my original post is misleading but it is for the exhaust flaps.

Reviving an old thread... but I have this exact problem, and I have vacuum all the way to this solonoid, and when I removed it there was a big hiss of vacuum heard. Ordered a new one from GM parts direct.. I will post results.

I replaced the solenoid, nada. I vacuum tested both actuator's, one held vacuum, one holds zero. It's my opinion/ fact that any vacuum leak after the solenoid, weather its a line or a fitting or an actuator will result in flaps that stay in the open/ loud position. I've got hours of diagnostic testing into my dual mode exhaust, and I'm confident in what I've stated. Swapping in a new/ proven good actuator in the next few days, I'm 99% sure this will be the solution.
