Suggestion on what year ZR1 to get ?
I am stepping into the C6 ZR1 world, and wanted some feedback on what year(s) everyone feels I should stay away from, or try to get. Vibration issues ? tranny problems by year ? features added ?
I have had 4 C4 ZR1s, and a C7. But C6 ZR1s are clearly the best Vette buys out there.

I just took the leap and went with 2011. Figured if there were bugs to be worked out.... They were gone by then. I picked up a 5000+ mile car for high 60's and my only regret is its black!!! Been awhile since I have had black car and seems like I wash it more than I drive it. Good luck, fun car and certainly a good time to pick one up with the new z06 craze.

They are all pretty much the same. I was on the same boat as you are before I got the perfect one.
Launch Control, PTM and the gear ratio changes have very little effect on normal driving.
Concentrate on finding the right color, mileage and preferably a garage queen.
This is clearly one of the finest cars I have driven.

I own an '09. Car was first day of productions with no issues. So either I got lucky, or no bugs to work out. I know some have had vibration problems but that seems to be spread over several model years. So, I would test drive. The only thing tricky about that is if the car has not seen highway miles recently, takes maybe 5 miles on the highway to smooth out any flat spots. Personally, '09 - '11 are all the same to me (I would never use launch control). I like the seats in the '12, and as I do. It track the car, would prefer the taller 6th gear (always liked that on my Z06). When you are staying under 100mph, newer ratios give you better gas mileage with no performance loss. If you track, a different story. Good luck. Great cars. Last of a breed. A keeper.

If you're going to be doing any standing mile running, you'll want the original gear set (or the later optional PDE gear set).

The seats are the same as the '09's and '10's except for a squared headrest. (but the squared '11 headrests are a bit nicer in appearance to me)
The two cats rather than four, and having a USB and banana plug connection in the center console is an added draw with the '11's as well.
90% of the decision to buy "any" year ZR1 would come down to your desired color, and most importantly, condition of the car.
...that's correct
