Well my motor decided to exit the building
As some of you already know my motor let go yesterday. Car was very healthy just the previous 2 days on the dyno. Car made 727/777 (118 iat2s) and 884/1035 on the bottle.
I was doing a shake down pass with no nitrous for my first pass at the 1/2 mile event. Eased out in first and snatched 2nd and let her eat. Went into 3rd and she felt a bit weak and I thought I saw some smoke coming out of the hood vent but kept going. Went into 4th and she felt very weak. At about 6600 I felt her shake and then a violent scattering of the motor out the bottom. It felt rather chunky if you will. Looked in my mirror as I was clutching in and saw lots of smoke followed by a very healthy fire. I coasted her to put the fire out and got most of it out before I stopped. I jumped out of the car and popped the hood and walked away at that point because there was still a little fire under the hood. The tow truck driver and fire crew were able to get the rest out.
Big thanks to all the vengeance crew that came to my assistance the moment they saw what happened.
I suspect I either spun a stock bearing or an ARP bolt sheered that I just installed myself.
Damage: motor is toast from top to bottom. Rear bumper is toast. Some minor fire damage under the hood.
Update #1
So I may possibly be one of the luckiest bastards alive. I just pulled all the plugs and they are perfect. Only number 7 has some oil on her.

My heart sunk when I read your headline this morning. Sorry about your motor. Thanks for sharing. Glad you are safe and there was only minor collateral damage. Can you do a postmortem with the ECU and see what codes she threw prior to the bottom end letting go?
Again, sorry about the blown motor,

Doubt she threw any codes. I had my dashlogic plugged in and she never once flashed at me that she was knocking.

Spectacular. If it has to go might as well let it go big.
Best of luck getting it back together. Sorry it happened.

JJEEZZZ Dude that sucks!! What in the hell hapened? The only thing i could think of, its a MAJOR hole in the block that could had dump that amount of oil in the same time! I Know we all dealing with risks when building cars, but thats a whole difference story here
But please dont even think about parting it out the car.

Sorry to hear about your motor grenading.
Thanks for sharing the photos of the carnage. Hope we get to see some photos real soon of the new motor you are going to build!
