Hey Vette guys and gals,
I just sold my 2008 C6 4lt convertible. I am looking for a new Vette.
I am torn between a 2013 427 convertible and 2014 C7 3lt, Z51 convertible.... opinions?!?!?
Thx

IMO you need to thoroughly drive both and decide what you like better...the cars are very different.

I have drove both and purchased the 2013 427 because it is a better car! IMO. Way more power and more room inside. You won't be disappointed in the C6. Plus those stupid tail lights on the C7 gotta go!

I have a friend with the C7 Z51 package and he says there are temperature issues with the Micheline tires in cold temps. Says he regrets getting that package for that reason. if it don't get cold where you are then its a non issue to you . Good luck

My opinion remains out on the c7. I love my c6 zo6 and I think the c7's trouble areas are beginning to show ( all cars have them). All the electronics bother me...the issues with direct injection bother me and the styling for me is a little to far out there. I am keeping my Z

I was torn between these cars as well. I was deciding whether to wait for the C7 or order a Z06. I remembered it takes GM about 3 model years to get most of the bugs out, and that the 427 was probably going to disappear. I've always wanted some sort of 427 Corvette, and the Z06 was, imo, the best way to get my cake and eat it, too. Especially after finally get rid of the Goodyear EMTs. The car's ride and handle became much more refined and precise. Much less noisy too and much better cold weather performance. I'm incredibly happy with my choice. It's a great car. Especially with good tires.

My biggest issue is I can't keep my hands off the steering wheel and my a$$ out of the driver's seat!!

I have a '08 Z06 and I just purchased a '15 Stingray for my wife and she asked me to drive it home. I am 6'3" and 250# but my knees were into the dash........the car is too small and confining for me to enjoy......why would GM make the Vette smaller inside and eliminate customers... I was thinking of trading my '08 Z06, which I have great leg room, in on a new Z06 but that is not happening now.....Shame!!

Just sold my 08 ls3 with z51 and 6mt, drove a Stingray with Z51 and 7mt in anger before committing on my c6 z06

My impressions:

The LT1 in the Stingray is a torque monster, it lit up the rear even after a 20 min drive when the rear tires were warm. The torque is instant and is very fun, but the engine doesn't feel as rev-happy as the LS7.

Interior wise I'm a 5'8" 160lbs guy and the Stingray fitted me well. The seats are much better and felt like it would actually hold me through corners in the canyons, though the C6Z's seats are way better than my 08 LS3's seats already. The interior is no contest to the Stingray

The Stingray's steering feel is also much more "sensitive" - on the freeway off-center directional changes were instant, reminded me of my Lancer Evolution from a few years back. The exhaust note was also awesome in the Stingray in the various modes.

Stepping out of the Stingray and into the C6 Z made me feel like I traveled back in time by a century. Alas the LS7 and how light the C6Z felt vs. the Stingray (almost 300 lbs difference in curb weight I believe?) and the price of the C6Z won me over.

I've always loved high revving n/a motors and the LS7 is a complete hoot to rev out. It took me about 2 weeks to start actually upshifting at redline because it's so weird winding out the motor to 7k rpm when I've been used to the 6500 rpm redline in my LS3 for the last 3.5 years. One car reviewer said it best - the extra 500 rpm feels like an eternity for a small block V8.

The LT1 didn't exactly taper off near redline, at least my butt dyno didn't feel that, but it did not have the high-rpm wail and PULL after 4500rpm like the LS7 did. I can't wait to test a C7 Z06 when the time comes but for now the C6 Z makes me laugh like a kid in candy store each time I drive it, and it's far from the fastest car I've driven, it's just so much fun.
