I run a Shorai LFX36L3-BS12 Shorai 12v 36 AH PBEq LiFePO4 Power Sports Battery in my Z06. The only shortcoming for using such a battery is the lack of reserve voltage in the event you have a charging system failure, like an alternator failure, which I recently experienced. Once the alternator failed, I had roughly 5-10 minutes of runtime before the car shut down. The current drain was enough that it damaged one of the battery cells and wouldn't charge beyond 13.6V (should be above 14 for this type of battery). Other than that, I kept the battery on the Shorai branded battery charger/tender when it sat in the garage and never failed me until the alternator failure.

For my 2012 ZR1, I just went to Wal-Mart and picked up an Everstart Maxx T5 battery. It installed easily, including the venting. It cost about $120. The GM charger that came with my vette states it is only for wet cell batteries. I tried it on an Odessy AGM in my truck and the darn charger over heated so I unplugged it. So I am sticking with old school batteries for now.

Interstate, has the vent outlet if you get the right one. Bought Interstate batteries for 50 years, never bad one, always lasted 6+ years.

Advance Auto parts 90-T5, $125 with discounts. Order online and pick up in store for better pricing I think. OEM wasn't in stock at dealer when I needed one.

A simple Google search will show that your favorite private label wet cell battery (i.e. Interstate, Duralast, Diehard, Delco, Everstart, etc) are all made by two or three large battery manufacturers like Penn or Johnson Controls. So keep bragging about your expensive private label battery is better than all the others. The rest of us are laughing.

About the Wal Mart Maxxx batteries, I have them in 6 of my cars and never had a problem, price is wright and the 5 year warranty is great. All are on battery tenders when not in use.
Now, if John Deer made automotive batteries that may be one to look at. I have a John Deer mower ten years old with the original battery, again always on a battery tender.
