Interesting, I'm guessing that you moved the power band up 500-1000RPMs?

Do you have a cam/spring to take advantage of that?

Good hotroding. I done just that with aluminum intakes, and then fabricating my own velocity stacks for the runners with aluminum tubing a mod we made on the mill, and then pressing the tube to shape. Then, machining a lip on the runner and epoxy the velocity stack to the runner.

They made great gains, but it took playing with the runner length to get the losses down low to a minimum and moving the power to the top end.

I am hoping to shift peak to 6800-7k yes I have dual ips springs good to 690 lift harden pushrods trunion kit on rockers and my cam when designed made power to 7600 rpm real similar to a stage 4 btr but with the fast standard runner it peaks at 6400 and carries decent to 7k im not worried about losess down low to much this car lives above 4500 if I lose 15-20trq down low ill be okay with that these runners are 6" long so with lower shell and head port I figure that still gives me about 12" of total runner how short do u guys make yours and what were your gains doing so

The runners were for a non-LSx application. Gains of 50RWHP @ 7000RPMs were the norm but the stock intake runner length on those were making peak power at o/a 6200RPMs and then falling into their face so the 2" shorter runner helped lots and the HP/TQ was flat and just carried the power.

Another thing was that plenum volume was reduced to aid with throttle response and velocity.

ahhh i see nice im hoping for 15-20hp gain and with a few other changes i made i wana make 630 i made 605 last year i keep worrying about some cross talk between the middle 4 chy but i have showed picks to tuner engine builder and a couple head porters none of them seemed to be worried about it these runners are a bit short i wanted to keep them at 8" but that left no room to shape a entry and made them sit funny in the base well know in 10 days if it works

I don't think the positioning is ultra critical. I bet the bellmouth surface area is more important. Having the capability to individually log and tune cylinders could help if you get uneven distribution of air to the cylinders. Just something to think about.

D3 Performance does 3D printing. So does Dedicated Motorsports, but they are in Austin. Or at least, both shop have 3D printers anyway...

I keep looking at your air intake. Looks custom, but does that filter have enough surface area? Looks like a fairly small cone for a 427ci motor. Maybe it's just me...

i figure it to have about 10 more sqr inch than mu VR intake tiny panel filter and i think with the 6" opening and the velocity stack i think it will move anuf air i was thinking for ***** and gigs taking a short piece of 4" pipe that i have left over and running the velocity stack strait off the maff about 4-5"

There is probably 1000 places that do it if you look. Hell every local mall here now has a 3d printer.

You can buy a brand new one off ebay for $350-400. That is what we have at work and all my friends use. Everyone in my area at the office has one for their kids to play with.

As for filter, I run same size cone and made 1200rwhp, so I'm sure it is big enough.

Any updates on how these turned out? I'm thinking of doing the same as my ls7 setup could benefit from an extra 3-500 rpm of carry

Ian has since moved on to a Holley Sniper intake.
I don't think he monitors this board anymore, but if you join our FB group he is very active there and may be able to tell you what he ultimately found with regards to this particular mod.
