Help! Need to Borrow an Air Filter
Hi there Zroners-
I am looking to borrow an original LS9 air filter. It neeeds to be a factory-installed filter or a NOS "early-type" ACDelco A3107C replacement
So, why do I need this?
I own a modified 2012 Z06 which is used as a project vehicle for various print and Internet writing I do.
For the 2012 model year, as a way to offset the exhaust restriction and power loss caused by the 4-cat exhaust, GM put the LS9 air filter in Z06es.
I've been researching the 09-13 ZR-1/12-13 Z06 replacement air filter issue, ever since I bought the second of two replacement ACD A3107Cs which were made with the older, Z06-style, Donaldson PowerCore filter media, rather than the PowerCore G2 media which was introduced on the LS9. It appears, at this point, that all A3107Cs may now be made with the older, more restrictive PowerCore filter media.
The story goes that the filters with PowerCore G2 are capable of a 19% increase in air flow over the 06-11 Z06 filter, on which the LS9 air filter was based.
I want to test that idea, but the original filter which came with my '12 Z06 was replaced and the old filter scrapped before I became aware of the problem with currently-available A3107Cs.
An image is attached to show the visual difference between the two filters.
I want to borrow the filter for about 10 days. I will install it, do some acceleration testing to verify my ECM cal is correct as to the MAF transfer table, then I will run it on the chassis dyno for three passes. All the use of the filter will be highway driving or chassis dyno testing. No city traffic. No desert driving or operation in dusty areas
After my testing, I will return the filter to the owner.
Can any of your ZR-1 folks help me out?
If so, please, email me at finspeed@netmotive.net or PM me.

I have one too if needed, but even further away in Western NY. From a '13 ZR1 with about 4700 miles on the filter. Surely there must be someone out near you that has one? If not, let me know & I'll FedEx it out to you.

I'm going to make one more attempt to buy one and if that fails, I'll be back at you.
