Too many miles for ZR1???
Looking to purchase a ZR1. I see many of them with less than 10,000 miles. Also see some around 20,000 miles. How many miles would you consider "too many" miles on this car?? On most cars 20,000 should be nothing, just slightly concerned about longevity on an engine that turns out this much HP.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The car has forged pistons and 9.1 compression, with no boost. Even when under boost how long is it really there for until your off the throttle and the by-pass valve opens. Engine should last and be fine I would be more concerned with the clutch

Burning Brakes
I have a 2009 with 42k miles. Car is still a great car. I also have GMPP until jan 2018 so I have no concerns. If this was my old C6 Z06 that would be another story until it visits WCCH to get the heads updated.

The ZR1 will have no problem with miles but you see a lot with few miles to maintain value. It seems that once they break the 15k mark they start to lose value more rapidly. I lot of people buy them looking towards the future and what they will be worth then so they are concerned about the low miles. At least that is my opinion on it

107,500 on mine it's still got 150psi in each cylinder and the same HP it had with 40,000 when I put the pulley and tune in it. I had the breaks checked at the dealer and they still have plenty left.

If each mile brings that feeling of why you bought it in the first place then don't know what the top end is...
But yeah, with GMPP, and if you are not positioning your purchase like maybe a collector would for future value, drive it.
I am completely guilty of not having enough time to drive it, so don't take my 2010 with 5k miles on it as an example

it's a chevy no an F car or Lambo....and I'm saying that because if you look at the mnfg required maintenance for those exotic, at around 20k miles it can be pretty steep (Egear lambos usually need a clutch by 25k -depending on how they were driven, and by that I mean not necesseraly beat on, simply the "how" and that's about 4-6k).
I think on ours it's plugs at 100k and all fluid change (trans/rear/brakes/clutch fluid)...I'd have to look it up...but yea nothing to special or expensive.
Plus, the LS9 is the best engine built with all the high end parts in it, I wouldn't worry about it

Exactly how I feel, when I do make the jump to a Gallardo or something I'll expect the jump in maintenance cost.. These cars are meant to be driven, I just crossed 50k, gonna be 55k by next week!

with 20,000 + miles, the only things that would concern me are peppered windshield, paint and drivers seat wear.

this was my number one concern when looking into buying one. its just a pet peeve i have i guess, i love low milages cars. just picked up an 09, 1,349 miles. theyre out there, keep your eye open, but like others said youll probably pay a little bit more for them ut i think its completely worth it

On the other extreme, met up with a few Vette guys last night for dinner. One guy had a C7 2015 in Crystal Red that he already has put 23k miles on it 18 months. Drives it daily, looks pristine, and has had no problems. He has two other non Vette drivers but claims he just can't stop driving the C7 (obviously!).
