[Z06] Header & Spark Plug Question

Header & Spark Plug Question
I'm planning to install LG long tube headers on my otherwise stock 2006 Z06. Now my plan was to install these along with new OEM Delco plugs (41-104 I believe), and simply have it tuned.
The shop I'd like to have the tune done by strongly suggested going one step colder to NGK TR6 plugs along with a 160* thermostat.
My questions are as follows:
1. Is this absolutely necessary (required)?
2. Approximately how much of a benefit (HP/TQ) am I missing out on by skipping the thermostat and colder plugs?
3. If you were doing headers and tune, would you go for the thermostat and colder plugs or leave those OEM?
Thanks in advance
Anthony

I wouldn't touch that stuff for just a header/tune. New OEM plugs, and headers are more than enough. T-stat is a complete waste of money IMO.

Headers
Also wanted to mention the car is 100% street driven now with 1-2 HPDE days a year. And I live in Canada, so it takes long enough to warm up before I stomp on it with the stock t-stat!

I wouldnt. I believe the recommendation for 1 step colder for every 75-100hp increase you have. Headers arent going to increase your HP by 75-100 by themselves.
As far as the thermostat, im not sold personally on running colder thermostats. Once the car is hot, either the 160 or 180 thermostat will be wide open anyway and then its simply up to whatever your cooling system can do at that point.
