Default Production Numbers

The 2016 Corvette production numbers are out. It's worth noting that in 2015 and 2016 there were 22,928 C7 Z06's produced. Definitely a hit for GM. 2017 Z06 number 492 will make it 5 times as many as ZR1's in just a little over 2 years!

I still happy with my one in 4684 ZR1
and nothing against the Z06!

Yes they are a hit and they tripled the number of ZR1's built. If you look at the ZR1 prices now 60/70k for 5 yr old Vettes. Let's see what the price of the Z06's bring after 5 yrs..........

But how many remain un-sold on dealer lots and how many are available as low milage used cars (already)?

The LS9 and LT4 are completely different engines, despite relatively similar power ratings. Not a fair comparison, IMO...

I won't argue that with you but we both know they have been compared since before the Z06 was released and will continue to be. I was only comparing production numbers because of all the chat about ZR1 vs. C7 Z06 prices. We all know that nothing compares to the king ZR1!

Two very different cars all around. I love both my ZR and Z06, didn't buy to worry about resale values. Lots more Zs here and rare to see a ZR.

Way more produced in the past two years compared to sales.

With the announcement of significant changes in the 2017 to "fix" the overheating problems, what's that going to do to resale vales of the 2015's and 2016's?

Who would buy a new or used 2015 or 2016 knowing that the 2017 will have the improvements?

This might actually provide an opportunity for folks who don't track their cars to get a good deal on a Z06. My understanding is that for normal driving, even periodic "spirited" mountain driving, the overheating issue isn't really an issue at all. It seems to be limited to the track? I don't track my cars so if prices did drop because people perceive the 2015/2016 models as flawed due to overheating.....hell, I'd be first in line....

However, I could be wrong? Does this issue only apply to the track or do folks that don't go to the track still see their cars overheating and going into "limp" mode?

That is true, about getting a good deal, but when you go to sell it, is the next owner looking for a car he can track and therefore skips over the 2015 and the 2106?

If a car has a 'bad' reputation(such as possible overheating or possibly puking it's A8 transmission, etc), it does hurt the resale value on down the line.

You will get a cheaper car up front, but when you go to sell, it, it will be for a cheaper price.

You buy a better car up front(more expensive) and it will sell for a higher price later on, as a used car.

For me, if the ownership cost(the delta between buying and selling) is going to be the same, I will go for the "new and improved" version.

The C7Z with like 2k miles 3LT can be had for low to mid 70s now.. And I've seen quite a few in the 60s already. The value is obviously gonna plummet.

I cancelled my C7Z order to get my ZR1 a few months back. And if the C7 prices keep tanking, I'll pick one up as well lol.

I never thought the ZR1's would drop under $60k but I've recently seen a few in the high $50k range with 7-10k miles. Mind you one was at a Ford dealership

It's going to take the current owners (future sellers) to keep the values up. If more of these $50k+ offerings hit the market it will be very bad for the ZR1.

Should have bought a Ford...... GT that is.
