That fine, and I just switched to a 50/50 mix of M1 0-w40 and 15-w50 a few weeks ago, but if you buy into BITOG's testing, they are both inferior choices (98 and 142 better choices, respectively).
This is why I think it is important to understand how he is testing the oils, and if his methodology is relevant.

From all the results I've read, the consensus seems (in general terms) to be that higher zinc oils protect less than those with less zinc.

Thanks for this thread, changed over to the M1 0w40 yesterday.
Trans and rear end fluids are next.

Any oil should be warmed to 160* before getting on a high performance engine. Oil pressures are higher with M1 0W-40 than for M1 5W-30 until near 0* and below. Cold start pressure usually 5-10 PSI higher with 0W-40.

I just picked up a C6 Z06. I'm coming from a BMW 135i . The 0w 40 formula you guys are talking about used to be the recommended oil for my previous car. Mobil 1 just recently lost their BMW certification. That was enough to scare me off. That combined with the stellar results of Castol Edge caused me to switch to them. Hopefully I'm making a good decision but I just changed to Edge 5w 30 in my Z.

You will HEAR a difference, and it has a great package in it that actually cleans the engine out if it's starting to get a bit "gunky" shall we say.
Take it for what it's worth. Oil is probably as subjective as musical preferences for us. Castrol Edge w/ Ti works.

BAM!!! Guys, seriously, EVERY SINGLE LSx vehicle I've ever owned (1998 Z28, 2000 Trans Am, @001 Camaro SS, 2004 Escalade LQ9, 2008 Escalade L92, 2009 Z06 and 2012 CTSV) have ALL benefited from the gold bottle Castrol Edge.

Well the dealer will say to use BMW branded oil, but Edge is LL-01 approved which is the standard BMW uses. Mobil no longer is. Mobil does still have the Porsche, Mercedes, and VW certifications so maybe it's a political thing. To me, I'd think the formula had to change for them to no longer certify as LL-01 though. Not that any of this really matters considering we only need the GM certification, which Mobil 1 still carries.

UOA's are as useful as drug tests. Change to bushed rockers and tell me if your bronze content doesn't SKYROCKET for a while.
By all means, run Mobil 1. I'm simply saying there's much better out there. Hell, German Castrol blows it out of the water.
I wouldn't put Mobil 1 in my lawnmower if it was free. This isn't the 90's anymore, and it's NOT what it used to be.

I tried M1 5-30, 0-40 and 10-40HM in my 09. None of them quieted my valve train like I was hoping. I went with the 10-40HM for a good daily driving and occasional spirited driving oil mainly since the oil temps hang around 165-175 so I wanted a thicker base oil. Not sure what to use if I were heading to a track day 15-40 or 50?

M1 0W-40 and 10W-40 HM have the same levels of phosphorus and zinc at 1000 and 1100 respectively and the 0W-40 would be better for street at 160* range.

I don't need to. I can pick up the phone and speak to different people and listen to their opinions based on analysis and scientific testing.

Actual testing in my car PROVED the Mobil 0w40 was better.
There are a FEW() people that disagree with your opinion of UOA testing.
Why don't you do a Blackstone and lets compare ......
