Default Tail of the Dragon

I know there are quite a few posts on this forum about tail of the dragon trips but I haven't seen too many comments about the road itself. While talking to some guys that have done it with motorcycles they say I would likely damage the splitter on my ZR1 because of the deep corners and have advised me not to drive the ZR1?? Though I have been on some twisties that I have scraped the lower air deflectors I haven't had to worry about the splitter being damaged. I'd like to hear from guys that have done the dragon with their Corvettes and if possible ZR1 owners. This trip is going to be a 2000+ mile round trip and I want to be prepared.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Jim, hit up form member LFZ...he's got a C6Z that I'm pretty sure has the ZR1 splitter & skirts, and his ride height is beyond low.

I have been over it several times in my stock '12 ZR1, last time was on the way to the NCRS National in Rhode Island, I had no problems at all, except dodging those idiots on motorcycles intent on suicide it seems.......

Thanks Mike, comforting to know the road won't be a problem and I'll watch out for the bikes but not much you can do if they're coming at you head on.

I live 2 hr from there and while it's a great road- it's a nightmare with the traffic and cops. send me a pm of where you're trying to go and I can tell you some other roads around ehre that are just as good as the dragon but not as well known.

It really depends on the time you go....early mornings are good. After lunch and any weekend can get congested, but you may luck out and get a few good runs in.

I'd also have to disagree with the other roads just as good statement.... While there are other roads, but nothing is as intense, intimidating, that requires full concentration for 11 miles like The Tail of the Dragon.

BTW...OP, you will be fine with all that ZR1 aero.

I really feel this road is just as good, but is longer and less crowded on most days. It is really my favorite for all that.

I live in Atlanta, I was there 4th of July weekend with ZR1 and my son in his Z06. Somebody's selling you wolf tickets. I had no problems at all. Going back up Labor Day weekend again.
