Default High output alternator for 2010 c6 zr1

im having voltage issues with my car, since i have alot of extra electrical mods, including triple pump fuel system, upgraded dual fans, d3 water pump, nitrous bottle heaters, etc. Does anyone know where i can get one in a timely manner? Ive researched but only stuff that comes up is for c6 6.2 7.0 not for zr1s. Thanks in advance! 2010 zr1

Nobody makes an alternator specifically for the ZR1, you will have to make one work with some spacers and a different belt. I couldn't tell you the exact parts, D3PE installed mine. They could probably get you what you need.

Right, but alternator is different... Theres plenty of options for 6.2 and 7.0 but not for ls9.

I suspect with your modifications you do need a unit with higher output...whatcop? gave you good advice. Let us know what you end-up with...

will do.. Im calling in the morning, hopefully i can find the fix to this. I keep killing batteries and my car doesnt run right when its pushed to the limit because of the lack of voltage to fuel pumps and coils i suspect....

There is an old school test in the case where you are uncertain. Reproduce the problem at night and if your headlights do not dim, it is not a voltage issue.

For a sensible and more scientific test, you could measure the energy output during the problem scenario and validate you are low.

Another thing you could do is get the specs on these new parts for power draw requirements and add them together to see if your alternator has enough energy output stock to handle new power requirement. As a bonus, you'd know how much energy you need from the new alternator in the case the stock alternator isn't enough.

Gkzr1 has one on his car. He was having issues at high RPMs. I keep mine on a battery tender and have a brute of a battery so I haven't ordered the alternator yet. I did however speak to Amber about it and it was about 800 or 850 for it and put out 280 amps iirc.

KP racing put one on my car. I was having trouble in the Houston heat with fans running full blast, in 100 degree temps, sitting in traffic. My voltage was dropping at idle, causing the car to throw a LOW VOLTAGE warning. Along with that, it would shut down the air conditioning and idle would go nuts on the car, hunting from 1500 rpm to stalling at the light. The alternator is custom made and I can't recall who they worked with it get it but it solved my problems and I know they have installed it on a few other cars as well with good success.

The first and cheapest thing you could try is to increase the cable/wire size of the charge wire from the alternator to the starter motor.

DC Power Inc makes the alternator and KP racing sells them. I have a lot of stuff, pumps, heaters, etc. drawing on my car. Running the bottle heaters at idle would push it over the edge causing all sorts of issues. Have had no issues since installing The new alternator.

You would think after having KP do all the work to my car the first time (ice tank, fuel system, nitrous, dual fans) they would have put this alternator on as well, or at least recommended it. This explains my voltage issues. Par for the course.... Thanks Amber!

the MAST cylinder heads wont clear the after market alternator so we had to space it up with some billet spacers.
