[Z06] Turn Active handling off - it won’t go off

Turn Active handling off - it won’t go off
2006 ZO6 at mid Ohio last week.
running 20” ADV1 with street tires and TPMS I can disable stability and traction control and place in competitive driving mode and was
able to slide the car around. Active handling was quiet. Then mounted the 19” Hoosiers on forgline rims and ran 4 seconds slower. Active handling kicking in all the time like a ball and chain. No TPMS in these because the valve stems would tear and then leak. This was with stability and traction control off.
reading the forum I ripped open steering column to disable the wires to the steering position sensor and still haven’t disabled active handling. Did I cut the wrong wires? My horn and telescopic steering stopped working .
please help?

1) The Active Handling system goes wonky without TPMS. This is a well known, well understood phenomena in our cars.
2) There are numerous ways to defeat the system. One way is to PULL (unplug) the steering wheel position sensor thereby disabling Active Handling from intervening. Please do not randomly CUT any wires, especially when you have no clue what you are cutting. The C6Z computer system and wiring is extremely sensitive, and one wrong wire cut can disable the entire car.
Here is the sensor, located under the driver dash and accessed by removing the kick panel:

Burning Brakes
When in doubt, cut wires.
updated to say just kidding. You should have done a search here to see the connector to disconnect.
