Will do.

Cant wait to see results. I got in contact with comp cams they said mine was infact a SR cam and that they misprinted my card based off the cam id lobes. I'm dropping off the head gaskets tomorrow then she will be underway.

Nice build. Recently finished an HR cam build with Tonys TFS heads and E85 that did 642/55X on a dynojet SAE.

Thank you. I'm wrenching on it right now in fact. 642 SAE is STOUT

Can you please list the rest of your mods to achieve that? I'm really curious.

It had MMS TFS 260 heads
Johnson short travel lifters
Custom HR cam 25x/26x
12.3:1 CR or so
2" headers
60 lb injectors
Flex Fuel
E65 blend during tuning
2" headers 3" X pipe
Mantic 9000 Dual
MMS MSD intake

Thats pretty much it. There is a thread around here somewhere.

That's a very impressive torque curve. That's got to be a tire burner!

How much valve lift with the cam? Which rockers did you end up going with? That's a mean mod list. I'm looking forward to getting my MSD IM back from Tony.

The LG intake really is a work of art...sort of like if Vararam and a Callaway Honker had a carbon fiber kid on steroids. Should force feed plenty of cool ambient air into that motor. Worth every penny on a build like this IMO.

Josh,

Your intake is coming along very well....should have it wrapped up and heading back your way next week sometime

The combination Matt was referring to was a combo I spec'ed and supplied the customer with all the components. Very similar to what you and I are working with btw.....my new MMS TFS heads, the shaft rockers I had Yella Terra build specifically for my new heads, a ported MSD intake, and the cam was a custom I helped him with also and it was only 247 @ .050 on the intake (big but not ridiculous)....had a 261 exhaust lobe on a 114 LSA which helped tame the cam some. The car drove extremely well for what I would consider a more aggressive combination.....Matt did a nice job with the tune getting 6th gear to run pretty smooth even as low as 1300-1400 RPM's.

Note that the more efficient cylinder head design had a hand in that also however. Getting 412-414 CFM thru an intake port that's 5 cc's smaller than stock means you have a tremendous amount of airspeed in the runners and that really helps negate the negative aspects of reversion with larger camshafts. It's much more difficult to change the direction of a faster moving column of air then a slower moving column of air....just another perk to factor in when your weighing which cylinder heads to purchase. While I can do a really nice job with stock castings, clearly the best results happen with my much more efficient (and more effective) clean sheet design. The best cylinder heads I have designed over the years always had a alot of air across the lift curve (not just big peak numbers) and modest cross sections which really improves the airspeed in the head. Moving alot of air at higher speeds always better packs the cylinder and really helps improve the lower and middle part of the torque and power curve as well. It really improves the volumetric efficiency of the engine a great deal and you can see that with very high BSFC numbers on the engine dyno as well (for the guys that have the opportunity to test on them).

Here is the thread documenting the 642 RWHP build (on a dyno that doesnt give away the numbers!)....customer was thrilled with the results. I actually had the opportunity to drive that car.....it's quite impressive and I have driven alot of fast cars in my day (there is a short in car video in that thread with me taking it for a quick blast!).

I will be in touch next week regarding your intake etc......looking forward to the results from your build!

Regards,
Tony

Thanks for the update Tony. I can't wait to get it back together and tuned. I'll report back with dyno results from the same dyno, some pictures, some video, and my description of how it drives. I just watched the short drive video clip, it just EXPLODES acceleration after each gear change, zero hesitation. Credit no doubt to your port work.

Mike Carnahan from Vengeance Racing. He tuned it for the previous combo, and I have an autocal with integrated Innovative wideband setup so he can remotely tune my car via email. I'm very satisfied with his tuning.

Default WCCH Heads

In case anyone is interested in my WCCH Stage 2 heads with Ti/Mo intake valves/PSI springs, I listed them for sale in the C6 Parts section.
