Wow. I read the aluminum version was like 25lbs, 22 lbs is seriously light. I hope it works out well for you. Gonna rev like a Lexus LFA.

Subbin...Josh FWIW, Superiors dyno has always been stingy. I dyno'd my Cobra there back in my Kenne Bell days and I was like 30+ HP less than similar setups elsewhere in the US.

wow 76 pages. I want to ask about the solid lifters but too lazy to see if someone else asked. What is the adjustment or check interval? I have had many Japanese motorcycles that are direct cam to shim under bucket adjustment (kinda like a solid lifter). Some have had measurement check intervals of 15,000 miles.

Lash adjustment intervals are arbitrary IMO. One person might say 10,000, another might say 5,000. Both answers are right, and wrong.

They need to be adjusted when they need to be adjusted. 500 miles or 3,000 miles. If you hear a bogey with a hot engine it's time to pull the VCs and inspect your valvetrain. This is what I have done and each time I did so I would find a valve that has .006" or so of cold lash. Then I adjust them all back down to .003" cold lash. Then rotate the engine a few times with the starter, then check them again.

It's not for the 5,000 mile, set it and forget it, kind of guy. I mean, you COULD let it just tap tap away at loose lash and it will eventually pound the **** out of the rockers and pushrods. A buddy of mine kept pushing his adjustment interval until he finally came to me to adjust them for him....T&D shaft rockers needed to be totally rebuilt for about a grand. Few broken shafts, couple broken bodies. They just need to be adjusted when they need to be adjusted. It's not for everyone.

Rock on man. Up to this point I kind of thought the Superior dyno was about average, so it's good to know that it's a stingey dyno!

30hp elsewhere sounds awesome.

What kind of horsepower difference is there with your mods between solid or hydraulic lifters?

I've never tested that. This cam has lobes LSA and LSB lobes from Comp that are specifically designed for a solid roller lifter so it would be hard to test with a hyd lifter.

Default 3.5” Mufflers

Almost done with the muffler project. I figured that since I went through the effort of making these 3.5” that I would do the quiet mod on the tubes. Reused the factory perforation, resized by cutting hot dog style, taking material out, then welding back together. Fit the perforation piece into the bottom transfer tubes, then covered in a triple layer muffler packing, held together with metal zip ties. This will help with drone and acts like a mini bullet muffler....in a muffler.

Thanks. No not really. I like the factory dual mode function and I dislike the under the car, loud, dump sound. I have a mild to wild switch but I haven't installed it. I just let the ECM do the opening closing.

Looking good Josh!!

Cant wait to see how much it tames the beast in "quiet" mode.....I bet its going to be pretty impressive and the difference between the two modes will be very significant.

Look forward to your feedback once its installed

Cheers,
Tony

Thanks Tony. Yeah the difference between the two modes will be the biggest thing here. It's been almost 2 years since I last ran my car with 3" modded mufflers. Almost everyone who heard it at WOT remarked about how "loud" the car got once the computer opened the baffles. So the 3.5" exhaust should be louder, and quieter than the 3" muffs I had.

The new ratios in the trans will kick rpms up at cruising speed, getting the engine out of drone range after 72mph. So even if these mufflers still have a hint of drone it won't ever matter.

And it will be nice to see what this whole effort does on the dyno.

I assume you are going to at least dyno it and see the difference before cutting the hood. If the Mamo MSD still makes as much or more, no reason to cut that pretty hood.
