[Z06] Anyone using a Mini-starter as a starter solution ?

Anyone using a Mini-starter as a starter solution ?
I've had starter problems every since I put Headers on my car. I'm on my second starter and now it's beginning to give me problems.
I saw an article that talked about Corvettes and it's starter problems with Heat ! The author suggested that Mini-starters might be a solution.
Any suggestions on brand or model ?
Thanks
Willie

I have no experience with a mini-starter, but I was ready to try one out until I put a heat wrap around my starter. I was going through starters like crazy; I think 3 - 4 in the past year and I finally got around to putting a heat wrap around it and it has worked out great (hot lapped half mile passes, road trips and stop and go AZ traffic). I picked up the heat wrap from the local autozone and then trimmed it to fit. Nothing fancy but it works.

Proper heat wrap would be my recommendation. I'm sure there's a vendor that sells a heat blanket kit for our starters...

Actually are starters in Z06 are kind of mini to begin with (weigh less than 10 pounds). I think Lingenfelter may have a starter shield.

Several places offer heat wraps for starters. Mine is still sitting the cabinet because in 25k+ miles never had an issue. One day if the starter comes off I'll wrap it, but no issues so far.
The factory starter is great. I see no reason to run anything else. If the solenoid fails, or cables get dirty then fix those issues.

I used the MSD one...it does sound pretty bad ***...but it's bigger than the regular starters for our cars and hits the headers. It has finally died and I'm going back to stock with a wrap.

Combined with ceramic coated headers and I've never had any issues whatsoever.

I've had headers on the car for 105K miles and have never had an issue with the original unwrapped factory starter, just like my stock rockers. People around these parts have a habit for replacing items with "so called" high performance parts just for the sake of replacing them. They often later find out that the aftermarket stuff is much worse than the OEM stuff.

I had it in the garage for probably 6 years before using it. Some of the adhesive has separated from the fiberglass, so I'll probably put some metal band wraps around the starter to keep the stuff on there.

I think this was what I used.
