When I did the spring swap recently I looked at the rockers very closely. All of them. I was not able to identify any detectable wear on the trunnions. No galling and everything still symmetrical and tight. And the wipe pattern looked good - it was smooth and in the center of contact pad. They are also definitely getting plenty of lubrication which is being metered from the Johnson slow leak down lifters.

These were the state of my CHE after about 5k miles on a 0.650" lift cam motion core. Basically just the two materials making love. Suggestion for the next refresh would be to take a light emery cloth to the inside of the bushing to make sure no machined edges are flaking off debris. Could have caused this little rub wear as seen here. Otherwise good to go!

Congrats Anthony! You're a bad man with a bad *** Z06. All your hard work is paying off. That torque tube looks like someone set off some Semtex inside of it but that's small potatoes compared to the success you're having.

Awesome thread, nice to see your progression with the car on track. Maybe this summer or next I will see you on track with the Z06. Currently track a Honda S2000, reading this thread made me have more appreciation for my S2000 lol.

Thanks. There is a whole contingent of guys I know at the track in S2000s. Really quick cars and all the guys are really cool and down to Earth. They all seem to love Vettes too. I instructed a guy in one this year at WGI and was very impressed with it. And at a race at NJMP one was keeping pace with me at race speed and I'm still trying to figure out how. If you are in the Northeast I'd love to meet up!

It's on coilovers. I haven't updated this thread in a while, but the car has been transformed again. It now has a full cage, fire suppression, kill switch, various other safety equipment, a new dual element wing, all new AP Racing RadiCal brakes on all four corners, another set of forged wheels, a new extended carbon fiber splitter/tunneled undertray and a LARGE number of other changes and modifications.

Yes DRM valved Bilsteins with the upgraded bushings are a very solid step-up from stock. They will help keep rear planted and firm things up a bit. Ultimately though, it depends on your intended use. Is it a street car only? Street car and some race track? Pure track car? If you are just starting on the journey and want a decent upgrade for the street and some track then go DRM Bilstein. Cheap and effective, and can be sold quite easily when you step-up to a proper coilover. However, if it is a dedicated or mostly track car then go right to coilovers (and spherical bearings, and big sways etc etc).

Hadn't seen the AP Racing calipers...they look nice and light.

Sorry for the bump but at the same time I'm not sorry because this may be one of the best threads on CF ever. Just spent the past 40 minutes going through this thread/journey and wow. I'm worn out and feeling broke just reading through it! Lol.

Haha thanks! A labor of love. She is torn apart as we speak for a few things trying to get ready for a race at Palmer later this month. Roasted another alternator at Limerock race a few weeks ago, somehow the shifter bolts managed to back out inside the shifter box and I lost 4th-6ths gears until I could figure it out (after I got home of course as I thought it was the transmission) and fried the stupid fan harness connector (again), but this time I cut the damn harness right out and hard wired the thing as I'm sick of replacing it. I also might put in a new RPM T56 Level V built transmission next week. Nothing wrong with mine as it turns out but I might do it anyhow as it is only a matter of time. It's already on the way so we will see. I also may cut into the hood and add some more vents. It has one large evacuation vent now but I may add two more.
But hey, I am stacking up a nice pile of cheap plastic trophies to shove in a box in my basement and show my grandkids someday (with a few stories for each one). Here are a few from last year.
Here was the car at Limerock a few weeks ago, which I only had 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear for as I lost the rest of the gears during a TT race (stupid shifter bolts that I thought was the transmission). Didn't go so well as I got basically run over in the straights during qualifying and the car didn't like being held at 7k RPMs in 3rd gear for lap after lap after lap......so I could only TT and didn't w2w.

Few updates for those that are interested.
Went to Limerock for a race with NASA. No go. I lost 4th and 5th gear during qualifying and basically couldn't race. Tried to race with just 3rd gear (20 laps held at 7k RPM lol) and roasted my alternator, blew out my rear main oil seal, melted my fan harness, shredded my serpentine belt, frayed and ruined my cam position sensor, glazed and oiled down my clutch, and caused all kinds of other havoc. Put her on the trailer and went home.
I immediately ordered a new RPM Level V T56 thinking it was my transmission. After I got home and tore into her it turns out that my shifter bolts had literally backed out. One was sheared off and one was hanging. So I didn't need a new trans, but I had one coming anyhow and drive train needed to come out anyhow to replace rear main and inspect clutch.
New AMT Differential mounts:
Clutch ended up good. Replaced rear main, new transmission in, full undercarriage inspection, AMT diff mounts in.
Had to add some turndowns to meet decibel restriction at Palmer:
I also added some more hood vents and swapped thermostats. Made it to Palmer and paddocked with Mark from AMT Motorsports, who is the coolest dude I know. Always helpful, always supportive, makes fantastic parts that work, is the fastest/quickest racer I know and helps me at the track. Is also a good friend that I trust. I somehow managed to forget my race suit and he lent me his spare suit and made sure I was ready to race, even though in the TT races I was racing against him for tires. A true competitor and friend.
Mark kicked my *** until he sprung a radiator leak, but as always I had a blast and won at least 1 new tire and maybe two. Here is some video from the TT race and the start of one of the wheel to wheel races where I was placed in P2:
