It's a great cam if you have roller tipped rockers and light valves.

excuse my ignorance, I'm not the most tech savvy guy but the stock rockers are roller tipped right?

I'm looking to do a build with this cam, FBO with 2" ARH headers, Mamo MSD and p&p WCCH heads....I just want a nice solid "street" car, no number chasing for me

OEM rockers are not roller tip, they are one-piece steel. Where they mount has roller bearings but the tip is just a machined pad. Roller tipped rockers have a polished steel roller pinned to the tip of the rocker arm.

Cam was supposed to arrive with .644/.630 lift. They cut it for 1.7 rockers! Cam was spec'd in the LS7 camshaft category and there was no place for comments where I could be redundant and say "for LS7, 1.8 rocker ratio." I will be using stock rockers and will have to wait a couple more weeks to get the correct grind after I call BTR on Monday.

Definitely wouldn't want to use that lift with stock rockers. I believe even .644 is high. It throughs off the geometry.

Katech is fine with OEM rockers with my cam:

Katech K501 Camshaft
235 / 251 @ .050, . 657/ .660 lift, 113 LSA
((235+251)/2)-(113*2)
243 - 226 = 17

PSI 1511 springs with Ti retainers and proper length pushrods.

That's great. Everything I've read says that's very hard on guides due to geometry. Could all be wrong I suppose.

Both my builder (CPR) and Katech do recommend checking the guides in my WCCH P&P heads at 20K miles, which I will do. Katech TiMo intake valves and new OEM exhaust valves.

As AzDan stated the OEM rockers are a fixed tip, here is a picture of an OEM style rocker non LS7 verse my YT rockers.

FYI, their website still lists the Stage II LS7 specs at .644"/.630" lift while failing to mention anything about rocker arm ratio. Since it mentions LS7 it would only be logical to assume a 1.8 ratio that the LS7 uses, but if that is actually the lift based off 1.7 rockers, they ought to mention that. At least the cam card that you received clarified the rocker ratio before you installed it. Big difference in those lifts.

Ya, seems like most cam advertisements (off the shelf grinds) are NOT for 1.8 ratio rockers. They are for 1.7. Be careful out there!

BTR had zero issue sending me a new cam based on 1.8 rocker ratio. I'm really surprised they haven't changed it yet, especially since it's listed in the LS7 section! Car was finished in April by DRM and she's a beast!
