I have been looking online for replacement tires for my 2006 Z06. Asked around and Discount Tire quoted me $2100 for a set of 4 new tires. Would not mind going used as long as they were in good condition, but your always rolling the dice with used tires. Anyone done some extensive research to find the best company to purchase tires at a great price?

Also, what are the pros/cons with run flats?

I just put non-run flats on my 2008.
Under $800 out the door from Discount Tire.
I had them beat Amazon pricing.

Tire Rack...have them shipped to your local shop.

Runflats---if you have a flat, you can still drive on them for a limited distance and limited mph. Non-runflat--stranded or take a repair kit along. Runflats are noisy, and rough riding also. I prefer non-runflats.

I just put on MPSS's from Discount Tire for 1277.00 yesterday. Mounted, balanced and roadside insurance, etc. I ordered them online and had them delivered to my local Discount Tire.

I too have used the Cooper RS3's on my Z06 and Saleen and very happy with them in the dry and wet.

I purchase all of my tires from Tire Rack and have them shipped directly to my house. I then take them to a good installer and for around $25 a tire have them mounted and balances.

Regarding run flats, they are nice but noisy so I run Nitto Invo's and carry a air pump in back and a patch kit. Rides great and no noise.

Discount Tire will match prices from ANYWHERE including ebay.

Decide on a tire and size, find them online for cheap, take it into discount and they will match. I got ~50 per tire off last time I had rears done a few months ago.

Their mount and balance is ~$20 per tire, TPMS kit is $6, plus like another 10 or so for all the other fee's.

I have purchased tires from both Discount Tire Direct and from Tire Rack as well as local dealers.

When I was looking for new Bridgestone RE050A run flat tires for my Z06, I found the best price was from a local small town Bridgestone dealer. His out the door price was better than Tire rack's that still had to have shipping added and then mounting and balance, etc added on at a local dealer.

BTW, the Bridgestone RE0505A run flats are light years better than the OE Goodyear tires.

wherever you have your new tires mounted make sure you agree with installer there is no road rash on rims or the condition of the rims is noted and inspect the rocker panels and note condition before and after on the work order....

I agree with JoesC5 the Bridgestone RE0505A make a big difference compared to the OEM GY tires...I can't image how well non-run flats would handle

I've found that when Tire Rack has a sale, Discount Tire will match it.

First decide on what tires you want. Then shop around for best price on them.

All the local discounts suck. I won't touch them. Plenty of other places price match.

I've actually got all my recent tires from CPR.

Strangely enough, in my neck of the woods, the local Ford/Lincoln dealer can get the PSSs in stock sizes for less (including install) than Discount and TireRack. Might be worth a quick call to get a quote.

When you call, have a price to bounce off them and tell them to beat it. Otherwise you typically just get retail pricing. Start with tirerack, have DT price match them, then call other dealers and have them beat DT prices.

I always check Ebay first. Needed 2x345/25/20 Nitto Invo's and got a pair from Adv.1 wheels for $875 shipped. Brand new tires. They were meant for a Viper wheel/trie setup but the customer cancelled the order...something like that. Every where else they would be like $1100 shipped for a pair.

Most times though, I buy from DTD or Tire Rack.

Also, check out DWW though (Discounted Wheel Warehouse) as they have some really good prices on some tires and they are also reputable.

Next time I will give a local place a shot, but the problem with going local is the tax.
