Default Just bought a C6 Z06. Not worried about Valves

I'm a former C5 Coupe owner. The car was slightly modded but the Z06 is on another league.

I purchased an aftermarket warranty that covers the car for the next 6 years. So I'm not going to spend a single minute worrying about a valve.

Of course this means the car stays stock but I'm fine with that. There's a lot of performance to be gained by becoming a better driver and learning how to roll on the throttle vs adding bolt ons.

No really sure of the point here? You made a thread to tell us you spent way more on a warranty than a head fix costs and you cannot mod the car....neat? lol I guess congrats? And I'm not trying to be funny this just is kinda weird to have a thread about it

You'll be fine until you drop a valve.

If it drops then it drops. I get a new engine.

Well there's no sense in buying a warranty and having the heads fixed.

So you spent more money than just getting the heads fixed, and could potentially damage more than the motor if it goes...interesting

Threads like this make me laugh. The factory warranty didn't even cover and engine and you think an aftermarket one will..... when you drop a valve and it destroys your ENTIRE engine you will regret it. The value of your car will be cut in half and u will spend 15k+ replacing the engine.

I would drive the car with confidence and enjoy it. But I'd still get the heads done. Use the warranty for everything else like trans, diff, COMPUTERS, SENSORS, Reverse Lock out, etc. Maybe even heads repaired before it grenades. when you find it out of spec, see if the warranty will fix it. No need to allow your car to be completely dismantled and value depleted due to a neglected head issue.

Replacing an engine won't cut the value in half at all lots of people buy them with dealer replaced engines from this very issue. Although I agree on all other points op is making a stupid choice

It's like riding a motorcycle with no helmet and then saying "it's ok I have really good health insurance"

Why would you risk grenading your motor just because you have a warranty? That's like saying "I'm not going to replace the batteries in my smoke alarms because I have home owners insurance." Absurd.

I would rather have spent the $1800 on fixing the heads than $1800 on a warranty that is likely only going to pay for itself due to the same faulty heads dropping a valve. The wiser choice is the former. Even if I had a warranty I would fix the heads. It is how grown men deal with things that don't work as they should or are prone to catastrophic failure.

Do as you please with your Z06. I'll do as I please with mine. A grown man with any ounce of common sense isn't going to purchase a warranty AND perform modifications to the motor.

Unless you have definitive proof that all C6 Z06 Corvettes are ticking time bombs, or even the majority are, I'd rather have comprehensive coverage for any failure that may occour including faulty cylinder heads.

So are you going on record and saying that no one has ever had their engine replaced via factory warranty?

Are you also going on record and saying a car with a new engine will have it's value cut in half?

😂😂

I assume you researched this topic, so in light of all the failures you've seen you still don't think it's a problem? lol I can only assume you like to gamble because the odds aren't in your favor here long term.

You effectively made a post telling us what you were going to do...now you're getting all defensive because we're telling you it's stupid? Lmao classic

Congrats - really I mean that but I also mean this - most aftermarket warranties suck - read the fine print - if and when you need it, it may be a battle and plenty of down-time

I didn't say that it's not a problem. It's obviously a problem which is why it's mentioned in the header of the thread.

My path is to leave the car completely stock and have warranty coverage during my ownership. A pretty simple concept.

Me defending my position on the matter is also another simple concept. Lmao
