Yes there is, it's simply a better part. More robust, bigger/better bushings for the slide rod, firmer mounting to the torque tube, etc. Compared to a stock box in good shape, you should notice a little less slop and a little less shift effort. Compared to a stock box with lots of miles on it you will notice a big difference. Should last longer too.

How is the mgw for the c6z? I had one on my c5z and it was really stiff, especially when trying to get it into reverse. I love the ease of the stock shifter but hate the rattle

It changes the shift from licorice stick to F1.

Can't speak to the C5 shifter, but I have MGW shifters in my gen 4 Firebird and C6Z and love them both. The one in the C6 is the model just prior to the current one. Back then the lower box was sold separately.
I installed the shifter and lower box in 2014. I find it to have minimal shift effort. It is however a little notchy, but I like that because I know it's in gear. Maybe able to take some of the notchyness out with the anti venom mod.

I loved how precise the mgw was on my c5z, but it took a lot of effort to get it into reverse (and no I'm not a *****, unless you are what you eat )

The main advantage is the reduced amount of shift effort due to the way we engineered the upper and lower pieces together.

The lower stock box has almost NO rod support and really wears out fast leaving a gritty rubbing type feel.

The MGW lower box bushings are an inch wide front and back and really smooth out the feel.

You most likely had JUST the upper shifter. The lower box design was really a game changer. Minimal effort over stock !!

Love my MGW in my C 5, girlfriend loves it too, she would love to put one in her 06 ZO 6 but can't because she runs in Auto Cross and they say she can't change ??? Seems like a tough rule when mostly they stay in second and she can't have the pleasure of a MGW for DD ???

On MGW's Facebook page, they announced the new page for Mustang shift *****, and said the Corvette and Camaro pages will launch soon.

It's essentially customizing the look of a gripper ****- colors, top plate pictures/pattern
Did not appear to have any new **** shapes though.

Great, thanks George for the install video, just in time I plan to replace my first gen mgw with the new one this weekend. I have a C6Z and I look forward to replacing the lower gear box to void the rattle, great shifters had one on my C5 as well.
