Anyone have pics of alternator to valve cover clearance? Seems With the coils relocated no one is having any issues.

FYI, Katech covers require grinding of the alternator bracket.

I think you're actually asking about VCs with mounts integrated into them, but it's worth noting for anyone who may come across this thread in the future.

But, we do have a market for people who would like a quality part cast and machined in Michigan by American workers, so we continue to sell them.

Damn right!
I applaud you for both the response and the philosophy

No, i will be putting mine in the fenders. It just seems that the stock valve covers are already close to the alternator and i know that many aftermarket ones are somewhat taller

Well, then I think I helped answer your question. Some of them will require grinding of the alternator bracket. There is a rib built into it near where the coolant temp wire is attached to the bracket. That rib needs to be ground down and part of the corner of the ear where the alternator bolt goes through needs a little material removed.

I know that hidden coils look better, but I sure as hell wouldn't do that.... I would not sleep at night knowing I hate to pull a fender to troubleshoot a miss....

I'm a car guy. I create work for myself for no reason whatsoever just so I can swear and throw tools in the garage.

Agreed with MD. Function over form. Too many down sides and new potential failure mods just to look pretty.

The lower coil mounting boss on my holleys hit the alternator. Had to be ground down.

I relocated my coils under my Haltech heat shield on each side of the air filter. Very easy to get to. To do this you will need to make your own plug wires. I made 4ft MSD wires and the OHM resistance was much less than the 1ft OEM wires.

That's a great idea. Can you post a pic?
