Im going for a high mileage Ls7 Zo6, it has some work done but would kind of work would need to be done in order to keep it strong, as ive heard they are ticking time bombs and what not, what would be the first thing to do engine wise as I got it

get the heads done and make sure it's been taken care of. They are not ticking time bombs at all. Just like any other ls they will run a long long time if taken care of.... and the heads are fixed.

What kind of work? If the bottom end is in good shape, do a top end refresh. R&R the heads (guides, springs, etc), at a minimum inspect the cam lobes for excessive wear, new lifters and trays, new push rods.

Agreed. Weather related maybe...Spring begins, and cars start to sell I suppose. Not sure there would be unilateral agreement for the content of that sticky though.

Sticky or no sticky these threads will continue and probably increase as the values drop.

Also check your rocker trunnions have been updated as well. So far I have been satisfied with the LS7. I knew going in that these were going to need heads addressed and was going to cost money to maintain. Any high performance engine will require maintenance. It's not the same as purchasing an every day car, such as a Malibu or Cruise.

ticking time bomb?

Far from that.

Like said above, R&R the heads, guides, fresh VJ, deck .020, Straub bushing kit, new seals, replace TC, call it the day.

Like the previous two said.. check the rocker trunnions as well. Here is my thread https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1594486920 where I just replaced my comp Trunions with the Straub kit. Make sure that area is good to go as well. I too am new to this platform(owned my C6Z for month and a half) and I have spent money on things I wasn't expecting. I am sure now it's the nature of the beast. Get heads fixed first thing if not already done. Good Luck
