Default OMFG! My Z06 has...electrical parasites!

Been having trouble with the battery not holding a charge. After replacing the five year old battery, the problem persists.

After making sure the new battery was fully charged, I began a parasitic loss test. Once modules go to "sleep", draw is 600 milliamps which is way high. It should be below 25 milliamps.

Anyone here have experience with a parasitic loss like that.

If so, where did you find the problem?

Pull one fuse at a time and when the current draw drops, you will have narrowed it down to were the issue is.

I got the one fuse at a time deal but the FSM says when you do that, you have to wait until all the remaining modules go back to sleep before you can take another parasitic current flow reading. Sure makes the diagnostic process time consuming.

I posted because I was interested to know where people with the same/similar problem found a solution, like...is there a module which has a common failure mode that causes high parasitic loss when all the other modules are dormant?

Default 2008 Battery Issue

I am having the same issue. I get in the car, but when I hit the switch I get a click. Car does not start. By holding down the button the dash does light up and I see the battery is at about 8 volts. Hence not enough power to start.
The engine light does light up. After removing the ground from the battery and waiting 5 minutes, the car starts. I turn it off and it starts. Think problem solved. Gauge shows battery at 14.7 volts.
The next day car does not start. I try the same thing and now the car does not start. I get that click and the engine light. Dash is dark.

What gives. Getting a new battery tomorrow.

Yes, Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. Still looking for the issue. I know it's in the cab somewhere. Have had the radio out...seats disconnected; power and heater, and still no resolution. I think it's in the instrument cluster but haven't pulled it out yet. My draw bounces between 300 and 700 ma. I hate electric issues. They are certainly more times than not a PIA to find.

I found the draw. It was a cell phone related accessory. Made a change and problem solved.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys!

I had an issue with the PAC iPod interface. Don't know what happened, but it would kill the battery in just a few hours.

EDIT: Nvm, you just posted your issue.

Hi Hib....I had this for months and finely took my car to my dealer who has a Corvette specialist.....It took hem about 5 minutes to find out the problem......The Corvette sensors are so sensitive and they look for anything about the same frequency there on and will not let the car "sleep"......My no no was an Escort Radar detector with GPS...as it would look for GPS position updates, it would wake the car up....over and over....Even with the detector off.....Anything like this,,(cell phone, non-OEM nave system, etc.) will not let the car go to sleep mode. I now unplug the detector....all good....

I had some drain issues on my car before I tore it down. This thread hopefully will send me in the right direction once it's back together.

Old thread but my solution was rewire so that console socket is off when car is off, stupid of gm to do otherwise IMO.

Hib if you see this link me to your pup cat thread pls.
