They are not going to tear it apart. Which I am OK with as long as I get an extended warranty on the motor.

I agree, it is similar to not getting the heads fixed because you are relying on a quality warranty. I got my LS7 heads fixed two months before the GMPP extended warranty ran out.

Different vintage and beast, but my 1971 Datsun 1600 cc race engine had PTV contact and it broke the OHC reground cam into 4 pieces, with a nice circle on the (forged) piston top, no damage below and the engine ran strong for at least several more seasons after the head/cam repair. I have the #4 bearing and #4 exhaust lobe sitting nearby on the shelf, they fit together but are not connected to each other.

Your heads are back out to you via express. With the additional cleaning up of the slight damage in the intake ports we got the heads back in the mail to you as soon as we could.

Make sure the dealer installs the lash caps!

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Always make sure you or the shop/dealership installing your LS7 heads installs the intake valve lash caps (if running GM titanium intake valves).

Totally unrelated (sort of)

took my Z to the dealer just to change the oil, cause i didn't want to do it that day. Talking with the service manager, I asked do they know where the oil goes in my Z06? He said yes it is a dry sump car and it goes in the canister in the corner of the engine bay and that they had a tech that was purely a corvette tech and he knows them in and out. So i get my car back and out of curiosity i pull the pass engine cover and see plier marks on the plastic cap on the valve cover. I went in and grabbed the service manager and showed him on how close he came to paying me to replace a LS7, cause they were not going to touch my car ever again. He offered a free oil change and I said to him "You've got to be kidding right."

just my little dealer story. I hope everything gets resolved OP.

Nice sounds like Kohle did a quick turn around to get you your heads back quickly. Hope everything turned out ok. Did the same mechanic do the work again or did the dealer learn their lesson?

WOW....interesting thread. I feel bad for the OP but sounds like things are working out okay.

After reading this I know I'll be buying heads from AH when I finally become a C6Z owner.

I would think this would all be covered by the dealerships insurance.

Here is the Happy update on My Worst Day!
Kohle did a fantastic job in turning the heads around ASAP!
They were to arrive by Friday or Saturday at the dealership. On Saturday morning I received a text that Fed-Ex would not deliver the heads until Monday at 8:30 am!! Looking online with the tracking number, I found the heads sitting in the distribution center one town over from the dealership. It took me almost an hour trying to talk to a human at Fed-Ex, all I got was a "Press 1 for ....! I called a local Fed-Ex shop and was told he couldn't help me out but gave me a 1-800 # Calling there I FINALLY spoke to a human. I was able to convince this person that the heads were part of my car which was needed to go on vacation. Giving photo ID and my cell phone number I quickly grabbed the heads and went to the dealer. To their surprise when I walked in at 1:00 pm, they started to re-assemble my motor. I picked the car up Tuesday at 1:00 pm and on Wednesday at 7:00 am we started on our trip. I returned w/o any issues after putting 1300 miles on the car. Thanks to the dealer and AHP my Z06 is alive and well!!
